I am supersticious, I will admit to that before I tell you my story.

Last night I was in bed, I was not sleeping too well so I put on the radio. Bruce and Phil said the Powerball numbers were coming up. I said to myself if I guess the Powerball number, Carlton will play in finals in 09.

I guessed 34 (no reason, not for Wiggo, it just jumped in my head). Bruce & Phil went through the numbers and said "& the Powerball is NUMBER 34".

I seriously nearly had a heart attack. Mr BM is still pissed that I woke him up and told him my story.

Put your house on it now. We will be playing finals football in 09. The chances of guessing that number were slim at best, I got it and that is that.

September action in 09 will be a certainty. Put that in you pipe and smoke it. We will all be sucking up final action in 8 months, back where we belong!

A very happy, somewhat tired, BM who now looks even more forward to another year with our beloved Blues.

Have a great Friday,

BM

You don't need a Powerball guess to know we'll be playing finals in 09.

BlueMelanie - I did a similar thing just last week...the Mrs and I were debating as to where we should go for our next Australian based holiday. I wanted to go to Tassie and the wife wanted to go to Queensland. I suggested as both destinations were advertising heavily to the Victorian market, we decide by waiting for one of their Tourism ads to come on TV. The first one to come on - that will be the destination and should I win 'Carlton will finish fifth in 2009' I proudly declared.

We sat through a couple of hours - (you end up taking toilet breaks through the show you're watching so as to see the ads)...yet not a single bloody Tourism ad came on TV. Another hour - still nothing. So the wife says - 'oh I'm sick of this - just press play on the DVD and see what comes on'. It was an old episode of 'Letterman' that we had recorded but never watched. Five minutes in and an ad break was upon us...and what should come on, but the Bruce Doull Toyota Ad.

'Woohoo - I win and the Blues will finish fifth'

I had a pretty good view of my first map of Tassie at the ground that day in 1982...not sure VirginBlue will provide the same view - but how's the superstition?

Speaking of omens, today at the Gold Coast races, race 7 (magic millions classic) horse number 3-Carlton Forward. Paying about $13.

So you thought that Carlton only had a 1 in 40-odd chance to play finals this year?

This was spoken as an omen during the draft period.

Does this mean, that every time this horse runs that it will be declared an 'omen' by Carlton supporters?!

(sorry - just bringing this to your attention.)

Well, speaking of omen, a person I know very well predicted the correct premiers in January for the last three years. This person told me Carlton to win the flag in GF against Geelong this year.... well we'll see - sounds so unlikely to me, but so did Hawks last year and Geelong the year before (in Jan that was).
