Round 14, 1975, Carlton defeats Essendon* by 80 points at Windy Hill.

In the second quarter Carlton kick a record 14 goals and one behind.

Can anyone remember who kicked the behind?

Or was it R. Ushed or H. Itpost?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The info might even appear in a book.

Dunno. But I was there that day and witnessed one of the best on field punch ups seen for many a long day.
Dean Hartigan tried to take Craig Davis's head off, Phil Pinnell ran about 80 metres and sent Hartigan into lala land. And it was ON !!
i remember a newspaper article saying it was clear by the scoreboard which team was playing football.
We won the fight and the game.
Lots has been written about the Windy Hill brawl between Richmond and Essendon*, but this one was better :fight:
Sorry , i digress

Reminds me of going to PP to see us play the Dogs in 84 & I'm pretty sure we kicked 14 straight before our first behind.

I reckon it would've been Swan McKay, who was BOG that day with 8 goals, as well as being the first one reported.

The only time I can remember Swan being reported - I thought if a few other teams that tried it, he might have had a few more bags. He took Essendon* apart that day. In fact, the 40 odd minutes quarter was fantastic. Essendon* couldn't even win the brawl.

As Jarusa knows, we had the chance to meet up with a 1975 Rep of the Carlton Football Club on the weekend and asked him this question.

Turns out he was on State Duty and missed it!

He suggested Swan as the best course of action - Jarusa, you happy if I follow up on that?

I've got a feeling it was Rod Ashman

Mystery remains, Swan couldn't remember anything about the point.

Laguna, anything behind the Rod Ashman theory, were you at the game?

Ashman's at the Club isnt he? Surely De Bolfo could join the dot for all concerned?

ps we only had 13 of them...

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that these gents will say a similar thing to what my Dad and Uncle (both present at the game) said when I asked them.

'You're asking me what?' ... 'A point --- during the second qtr against Essendon* in 1975?' .... 'You're joking right?' ... 'I remember a lot of things - but that ain't one of them'

Best suggestion they had was tracking down someone with a footy record who kept score.

Yes I was, standing in the outer being bashed over the head by a dear old bombers lady. It was just an avalanche of goals. I don't know why Ashman comes to mind. For some reason I can remember him running into an open goal and missing from about 30 metres out.

It was David McKay who kicked the only point for Carlton in this quarter.

As promised Jars, tt was definitely McKay and it was kicked at the 16th minute mark of the 2nd qtr.

That's all well and good DUC - but did Swan miss the goal after taking this mark? I think that's what we want to know right??
