Pre-season: Carlton

Quote:
Robbie Warnock (shoulder): Robbie's made some significant steps forward in the last couple of weeks. He's started to run and we expect to get him into full training early in the new year. We're focusing on getting some weight on him at the moment, so he's working closely with our dietitian and he's already made significant gains.

I liked this one...

Quote:
Arrivals
Off-field: Darren Harris (director of development), Robert Harvey (development coach), enough assorted medical and fitness staff to fill a small gymnasium.

From the hawks' report

Quote:
Who's burning?
Hawthorn would not comment on training performances

Why doesn't that flowering surprise me? :garthp:

Why Hollywood?

I just think that he is tall... not skilled in anyway, just a lanky big man. You cant afford to carry blokes, everyone on the field needs to be able to contribute, not just win taps!

Warnock does more than just win taps.

Warnock can kick and is mobile enough to get back to help out in defence.

Robert doesn't lack smarts around the ground.

Agree with you on this one ( Warnock ) Hollywood . ( Hope I'm wrong too ).

Couldn't get a game early last season at Freo because KEPLAR BRADLEY kept him out of the team . That is not a good sign .
When he was playing in the WAFL , he was second ruck with Mark Seaby holding the first ruck spot in front of him .That is not a good sign .

He's only young yet so there's plenty of time for development and improvement . That doesn't help us for the 2009 season though .
Most TCers think he has solved our ruck problems now . Maybe from 2010-2011 onwards that will be the case , but not right now I reckon .
This next season will see us struggling in the ruck again .

I think youll find he was injured early...

And yes he is the answer to our rucking problems if he stays fit

The person forgotten in all this is Hampson.

He has only been playing the game for a few seasons. He has huge potential if he can get the feel for the game

Personally I am more optomistic about Hampson than Warnock but every successful side needs 2 ruckman.

Agree with you about Hammer , Keogh . Another year or 2 , and he could be the real deal . Not next season though .

Warnock played 6 or 7 games in the WAFL early in 2008 before he got a senior game . He missed the last 6 or 7 games because of injury .

Kepler didn't play a game until round 8. Warnock played in rounds 3 and 4 with 41% TOG in round 3 and 51% in round 4. Was dropped after round 4...not unusual for a ruckman in his 3rd year. Returned in round 11 and showed better form until round 17 when he injured his ankle and didn't play another game for the year.

Surprised to read Richard Hadley has had a interrupted preseason, well actually not surprised. But to miss a solid block of running would have to make his climb back into the side even more steeper

Richard Hadley (groin): Hads is going really well. We've snuck him back into a bit of skills work, so he'll be into full training after Christmas.

Fingers crossed Hadley can get back to full fitness as he could make a significant difference to our side. When 100% fit he would be picked in every team except for Geelong and Hawthorn IMO....saying that he hasn't been 100% since the 2004 Grand Final.
From what I can gather he has done quite a lot of running work at training so hopefully his recovery is right on track. You never know he may well be a Dean Rice type recruit for us.

Stupid question, I have been away from the boards for a while, but when I was on last there was talk of Hartlett doing his knee again ............ Why wasn't he mentioned in the injury report, but instead as an up and coming youngester pushing for a spot ???

Probably because the story had been done before the injury occurred.

I thought about that, but it seems to have appeared on the site around the 30th Dec, so the injury should have been common knowledge by then, esp to our fitness advisor ................

The article would have been ready long before the 30th...they've been posting the articles at regular intervals since about the 23rd to give some info to footy fans.
