Is he eligible for the rookie list?

Should be a shoe in for the NAB Rising Star with all his contacts.

It would appear that Ahmed Fahour may have a bit of extra time on his hands next year...

It opens up the possibility of him taking on the Prez role that was offered to him. He has always rejected the moves to get him into the role on the basis he has too much to do in his day job now that might not be the case.

Are we sure he wants the job, or vice versa?

The only reason why he landed the NAB gig is because of his business connection in the UAE. He was poached from City Bank because had there biggest clients and brought them over to the NAB and thats how he was guaranteed a job

Can someone please list all the ways Ahmed Fahour has pitched-in to help his club over the years?

what the f** is it with this Fahour stuff???

'Fahour would make a good president' is up there with 'McDonalds uses pig-fat to thicken their shakes' in the urban-legend stakes.

"Big job at a big company" should not be a minimum pre-condition to becoming Carlton's President, nor should being a high profile Carlton fan.

Fahour is an overrated administrator who has been on the outer at NAB for some time. Most people in his position at other leading Australian banks, for example, Brian Hartzer at ANZ, have made big reputations on running the 'Australia' business (read retail, cards, some small business) in the world's longest ever economic boom. You'd have had to have been Elliott to muff that up. Fahour has been looking to leave NAB for some time and in my view shouldnt be brought in to Carlton.

id much prefer the Vice President, Richard Newton, son of a good Carlton man and long-term hands-on businessman. may not have the profile but definitely has the ability. I'd much rather have the latter.

Good choice, molsey (imo). Profile isn't everything - competency, passion, experience and runs on the board is. Doesn't hurt if you're a self-made billionaire either, but hey, there's only one Richard Pratt.

I think Farhour would make an excellent president.
he's well credentialled, sucessful businessman( you don't become and stay CEO of NAB for a period of time by chance or good fortune) and I think he's the right age and has the skills, business contacts and passion to ensure the club continues to be well managed with its off-field activities.

He was seen as the saviour a few years ago, when we were at our lowest. While we waited for him to become available, a group of guys actually committed their time to saving the club.

Yes it was Richard Pratt and his dollars and connections that got the ball rolling, but don't discount the work of our board at the time, who gave their time to running the club, as opposed to turning up for a board meeting once a month.

While this doesn't mean they've above scrutiny and that we shouldn't look outside that group, I'd much rather see someone who has runs on the board continue on.

He'll be 29 next year, so he's getting on.

This is a make-or-break year for Ahmad.....
