Now that Cousins is a Tiger, with all the hype surrounding his return round 1 will be massive! I cant wait... they spoiled Judd's debut game with us, now its our turn to stitch them up in Cousins return game!

Blues by 19pts

GO BLUES!

Yep, bring it on I say. It'll make their "yellow and bleak" 150th seem like waking up next to Miranda Kerr.

Normally id tip the opposition... but theres is only so much i can hide this tent in my pants.... Kruzer, Murphy, Gibbs, Waite, Walker, Judd, Fevola, Yarran, Betts... its hard not to get pumped!

I just cant wait until we slap teams like St Kilda they have given us sooo much grief over the past few season... time to return the favour!

Carlton need to win 3 of the first 4 matches in the season to have any chance of making the finals in my opinion.

This match is a vital one for two clubs with finals aspirations.

To win the first 3 or 4 matches in the 2009 season, Carlton will need to win at least 3 of 4 quarters in each game.

We have evidence of the ability of the 2008 team to score and score heavily. Adding extra foward options (in the form of new players) will not reduce this capacity to add to the scoreboard.

What is required in 2009 is evidence that the opposing team can be resticted in its scoring so that 3 of 4 quarters (minimum) positive advantage is achieved by by the Carlton team.

The back six are rlatively young and most have limited experience. What they need to do is play together as a tight and responsive unit.

To win these games, the defense (back six plus the mid-field players) must lead the team to victory.

To be honest i'm worried about round 1. No Stevens who plays his best footy against Richmond. Cousins will be a man possesed and they too are on the rise.

I think it will be very close, we need one of our Ruckman to dominate. They don't have a strong ruck division.

I wonder which televison station has got the game $$$$$advertising revenue. Absolute AFL ratings winner for round 1!!!!!

how good is it to have 2 traditional vic rivals peaking at same time. I expect between 85000-90000 at the G

Unless things have changed in the last couple of years all gate tackings with Ess/Coll/Rich are halved for each game no matter who the home or away team is.

..last year we had alot of players under-done.. ..stevens will be missed, but with murphy and gibbs more experienced, and juddles peaking we'll have a much better engine room.. ..hopefully warnock's right to go, and with a more settled back six and improved forwardline line we can take it to the tiges..

have I missed something, why won't Stevens be playing round 1 next year?

I'd love to see Banno come off the square at the first bounce and clean Cousins up.
That should shut the feral gits up for 10 minutes. :)
