Can someone with a good head for finances explain to me whay the operating profit is stated in the media release as $1.65million, whereas I read it as a $6.13 million profit in the Annual Report, with the club's debt having been reduced from $4.59 million 12 months ago, to having $1.722 million in the bank now. Amazing result! |

Will be going if i knock of work early but thats highly unlikely as i am working to 14hour days but will be doing my best to get there... very hard when ya work as truck driver... my employer knows i wanna knock off for the agm but he said ya work has to be done first.... cheers OZ |

Pleasure to meet the good Dr. tonight. Pretty quiet meeting as you would expect, usual suspects asked questions. CK took down a few notes and will remember some of the interesting stuff. Great to see Simon Wiggins get his life membership tonight and the Wiggins family in attendance. |

Not a bad AGM as far as AGM's go. Simon Wiggins named as a Life Member and was there with lovely wife Loudy who is even smaller in person. Laurie Carter (bootstudder) was also presented with Life Membership. Laurie gave a lovely little speech about how he arrived at the club to fill in for 6 weeks and stayed for 25 years. Great to see people of this ilk recognized in such a way. Greg Swann spoke briefly - although he's probably a bit too relaxed in front of members for my liking. I would have preferred it if he were CEO straight man proper and not so much like he is with KB on SEN radio. Hate to imagine how I would have reacted if I were one of the relatives of the obituaries he read out. Ok...I think Sticks spoke well - although it's a bit like being in France listening to a Parisian waiter read me the specials - I can only decipher every third word if I'm lucky. Lovely to meet Jarusa and CK95 at long last and to share a beer with Geoff Southby. We were the last to leave (well there was no more free beer on offer). So things are looking ok at Visy Park. We haven't quite got a Michelin Star yet - but go ahead and order the Fois Gras and Caviar ...it's on the menu! |

The other funny thing was the Richmond AGM on in the same area. When you walked into the Olympic stand the guy at the door was directing Richmond people one way and Carlton people another. Lucky there weren't any mixups otherwise some Richmond people would really have thought they got Judd!  I suppose in an historical sense it was different as well, I assume that is the first AGM CFC have held at the MCG? |

yeah it was short and sweat... i turned up about 10 minutes or so into the agm as i couldnt get off work any earlier i do have to agree with the first person who got up and asked the question about life memberships it would be good to see average member be given life membership and understand what swanny was saying it shouldnt be just given away... but i do think you have to draw the line maybe at social club level if the average joe blow member is to recieve a membership and maybe they are granted after 25 years as member or what they try to bring into there category membership wether it be captains club or cotteries... anyway i had to leave straight after the agm as i need to get home to spend a hour or so before having to go back to work at 4:30am anyway good to get some positives out of it all and good to see ratts get his contract renewed till 2011 and well done to wiggons and laurie carter on life memberships anyway enjoyed it myself even though i turned up late |

A lot of the early AGM's pre Princes Park would have most likely been at town halls, pubs etc, I think even after PP the AGM's have been held in different places, Brunswick Town Hall? etc. There was the famous Moonee Valley meeting (not sure whether that was an AGM though, might have been an extraordinary meeting?). Don't think the MCG has ever been used though. |

Couple of extra points... - Membership is currently 13000+. Was 12000 this time last year so tracking nicely (there's one for your equations GWS )- The Freo game on the Gold Coast is worth $500k to the club. We would actually lose against the gate if it were played at TD next year. To offset the match, we have the AWAY game against Essendon* as a designated Carlton game. Hawthorn had a designated match against us at TD a couple of years ago to offset one of their Tassie matches I'm pretty sure. - Laurie Carter & Simon Wiggins life membership...just wanted to mention that again. WIGGINS - Swanny not a fan of the white jumper & hopefully we won't be wearing it at all in season 2009. No promises though... - Current debt is $6m. Club looking at a number of fundraising initiatives etc next year to tackle it, no specific details outlined. - Footy Dept spending was $17m this year. Was $13m when this board took over. Club paid 97% of TPP in season 2008. - Warnock 206cm Overall a pretty brief meeting, but as Jars said to me they're always longer when things are going badly! Nice to have a chat to geoff Southby & to meet you Doc Sherrin - remind me to keep an eye out for used Land Rovers in future
