things spoken about carlton: -re-iterated we will not be getting cousins as he is too old for us -we don't have a specialist goalkicking coach. matty lappin is now looking after the forwards and that includes goalkicking -chris johnson has had groin surgery and we're hoping he is still available at pick 6 -warnock should play round 1 pretty disappointing for an hour-long interview but better than nothing i guess. |

A few Collingwood supporters rang up about the failed hotels and gave him a hard time. |

Was his response along the lines of "yeah I was just chatting with Dick the other day and we both had a laugh about how Collingwood funded my learning curve." |

Swanny made it clear that the hotels were running profitably when he left, and as he understands it Collingwood has sold one hotel which was performing badly, but the others aren't problematic. The overall loss resulted from that extraordinary one-off loss on the sale, and doesn't mean there'll be future losses. IIRC, Eugene Arocca was the guy handling the corporate acquisitions, so it looks like he jumped ship at just the right time. Just as well that our plans to buy up hotels never came to fruition. |

That's where you are wrong. The government are set to introduce new gaming regulations next year that will help pokies club owners reep the rewards. That's why the Castello's and Mathiesons are trying to buy up everything and the Hawks jumping on board with there new club in the outer west. But thats ok we got the 3rd richest man's money, we don't need a business plan |

![]() It does, plan A - go knocking on Mr Pratt's door and ask for his money plan B - ask members to fork out even more money as if there many years of buying a membership, attending events and past donations isn't enough |

Who wants pokies revenue? Not I. Price fixing isn't any lower than taking money from people who can't afford to lose it via pokies. But if the Government says it's OK we should follow Hawthorn's business plan. ![]() Hawthorn claimed $2 million of pokies revenue as a community benefit... |

Yes of course you're right Melvey. In two years, the club should have been able to shift itself from an economic basket-case of Fitzroy-esque proportions to a mirror-image of the top few wealthiest clubs in the competition. Oh, and without Pratt's help. They would have done that by following the Melvey Business Model for Miraculous Turnarounds. Maybe you can let Swann know all about it. Or better still, give the US automotive industry a call. It sounds great. Here's some facts: Fact one: when you say the club has no business-plan, you're just talking out of your arse. Because we both know a business plan exists. It's just that the executive management chooses not to post it on carltonfc.com.au. Can't imagine why not... Fact two: the club is in the first phase of a decade-long turnaround. You don't go from shit to chocolate overnight, so you'll find that the club does things that it probably wouldn't do in a perfect world. Like ask $25 to help build a kick-arse facility. But this sort of thing isn't uncommon amongst clubs anyway. Fact three: no-one is forcing anybody to donate to the redevelopment. And there might actually be people out there who like the idea of their name being on an honour role. Fact four: Richard Pratt has said on more than one occasion that his focus during his tenure was to create a self-sustaining model for the club, rather than create a handout culture. Now, do you think he's lying? Or perhaps he's failing? Or perhaps he's just incapable of creating a profitable enterprise? You tell me. Fact five: some people just like finding fault in things, even when they need to use an electron microscope to do so. |

the 25 shows that Carlton has maybe learnt from the past and wants to include all members (not just the wealthiest) in ownership of the new facilities. - something the dark times helped the club understand. |

It wasn't an interview mate....Swanny shares that hour every Friday with Neil Balme...... and Brian Waldron of Storm. It's just an hour of footy talk that's making news. |

The Bulldogs have turned there situation around with hard work, great management and planning. The same goes with the Saints and Geelong who all 3 clubs were not the most stable in in the past. None of those clubs were bailed out by a billionare supporter and then go running gloating just how great we are and everyone else is shit and self promoting it's self as 'we're on our way back' yeah thanks to one individuals handouts |

I love this club. I don't love the smugness from what's been achieved when it has been handed on a silver platter. No respect in that! Anyhow Im calling it a day. Time to begin 'friday night shenanigans' while you suckers work. |
