Apparently $400k to relocate our home game against the crows next year to the Gold Coast.

Lots of cash...

Nice way to escape winter for a week.

Richmond & St Kilda also have sold home games to the Gold Coast.

That's great news! Good to see us on the front foot :-D ......

........ now I'm just waiting for Melvey to get on here and post about how Colonwood (or his new favourite team the Dawks) did it first and/or better, and that we're looking desperate now as we can't come up with our own ideas, its going to fail etc. etc. etc.

Seriously though, it is truly great news for our club and our Queensland based supporters, good work CFC!

Will this come out of our TD or MCG home game allocation?

Who will it be Sticks?

And what does this mean for membership? Do I get in with a normal Melbourne-based membership if it is a home game? I paid a squillion dollars to see the game at the Gabba because I didn't have long-distance membership, so am trying to work out what to do next year.

If it's a Telstra Dome game that we're losing, this is a very good move.

This year, we got about 40,000 people there and made something like $25,000. Pathetic.

One game for a guaranteed $400,000 is a good deal. It looks after our supporter base up there, puts extra coin into the club, and sticks it up those miserly SOB's who run TD.

I agree John, thats why I asked. I don't mind a TD game being moved. Thats would give us a 5-5-1 split

If it's true (I'm not particularly happy about it), I hope that:

a) the game is one of our Dome home games, and
b) that we play a maximum of 4 away games interstate, preferably 3.

So we're still so desperate for cash that we have to sell a home game for a handful of interstate supporters in order to appease the AFL after the Kangaroos shat in their faces?

Hope there's a membership option for 10 homes games only in my 2009 membership package.....

Ah Brettie,

I pay for a Melbourne membership, and haven't seen a single game in Melbourne since the final game at PP. I then pay gadzillions to enter the gate at the Gabba when the lads come up here. One less home game won't kill you and may well be a very big short-term (emphasis) for the Club.

I'm up for this, anything to spread the brand. No doubt there would be solid support for us there (unlike North) and the fair-weathered would at least be intrigued by seeing Fev and Juddy in action up close to see what the fuss is about. Bring it on, I say.

Harsh. He may admire things about how Hawthorn and Collingwood operate, but the man bleeds red and black all the way. Shame on you

Hawthorn sold 5 or 6 games to Tassie - turned almost 5 million in profit Still managed nearly 45k members and are currently one of the power houses of the comp.

Those of you whinning about losing a game here or there should take a look over the fence . Or buy a plasma and get Fox like we do interstate

hopefully they will sell a few more games insterstate and hopefully up here

Sorry, I just realised my blunder........ After all the Scum have just announced the "biggest sponsorship in the history of the world" or something along those lines - how will we ever keep up with them??. I didn't mean to offend the guy...... seriously!!

Good move, members will be given an away match that we can use of memberships to get in. I am surprised that the club still has a debt of 6 mill.

I agree......and hopefully it is against another Victorian team so we don't forego as much of a "home ground" advantage (we probably get a greater advantage playing the interstate teams in Melbourne).

The increasing costs of servicing our large debt might be a significant reason behind this move.

It was that figure at the end of last year. Should be around $4mil this year if the esitmate of $2mil profit comes through, not to mention we need to pay the AFL back so it may ever less if we make a $2mil profit after paying the AFL debt off.

Fair enough - heard Crows this morning and it was said as definitive - but it was Greg Denham...
