I remember having that card! Would've had a part of a picture from the 1973 grand final on tha back...I wonder if it was a critical piece or an obsure part fo the grandstand or sky?

jeez .. thats an impressive debut .. !

where was his main position .. forward flank ?

looks like he ended up at the back pocket .. !

i heard someone on radio last week .. saying that if you saw vinny coming over to play on you .. you wished you were on the bench !

.. go blues ..

I also heard that in the 1973 Grand Final when Southby and Nicholls went down the tough guys like Waite weren't found retaliating and flying the flag. Probably better for someone who saw the game at the time to comment on that.

Round 1 against Sydney in Sydney (Telstra Stadium) 2003

McCormick kicked 2 goals with his first 2 kicks.

Another Vinny Waite anecdote - as a 10 year old warming up in the Carlton rooms to play St. Kilda at Princes Park for the SSB Carlton Little League team (we thought it was so cool to kick the footy into those warm-up nets) when the old wooden door leading to the players race creaked open and in came the trainers with Vinny Waite unconcious on a stretcher with just a trickle of blood from his nose. We all just stood around him looking very pale - not the best preparation for a punishing 10 minutes of football (I think we still won though !)

truebluebrad, I had heard that story as well. With this I asked a mates old man about it who, honestly, thought Steve Waugh was not a good cricketer and was a touch on the soft side, and he reckons old man Vinnie was as tough as teak.
