Recently retired Collingwood captain Scott Burns and dual Brownlow medallist Robert Harvey will soon decide which clubs they will join as assistant coaches after fielding several offers.

I know we are in the mix to get Burns to the club in a coaching capacity, but does anybody know if we have approached Robert Harvey in regards to joining the club?

Would be a great asset to the club as far as an untried assistant coach goes, there aren't many better examples of model footballers out there...

After reading TalkingRecruitment, I think we should consider drafting him.
We could have a midfield of Harvey, West, and Hird.

Now think about THAT

Burns and Harvey?

Collingwood and St Kilda?

Perhaps they could tutor our kids on what it takes to win a premiership...

From the outside you would say Burns is a much better get.
I prefer the club interview candidates and pick the one with the philosophies, know-how and teaching ability that will benefit the club. A playing CV isnt the be-all and end all

Like many other retired players wants to coach because he knows nothing outside of football...needs a pay cheque from somewhere...which club would be silly enough to give him one?

Harvey would have played under more coaches.

If that was the criteria, every AFL coach woulf be from Richmond or St Kilda.

Harvey could only be a great example and influence on our players with his dedication to fitness and training.

If we didn't already have Craig Bradley on board then I'd be all for Harvey. I still wouldn't be disappointed if we took him on board in a developmental role....given it looks likely Scott Burns will end up at West Coast.

C'mon Carlton, get Harvey for the likes of JeffDunne, TheFireman and Saintsational by outbidding the Filth and buying Harvey with $$$$$$$$$.

The reactions would be priceless.

Harvey talks to Pies, Blues about coaching

He can teach our boys this move.

Development coach at the most.

We do not want the St Kilda disease atttacking our club at too high a level.

David Parkin said of him after one game - "We couldn't have laid a tackle on him in a phone box" - if he could teach a few of those moves to Carrazzo would be worth his weight in gold.

He couldn't teach it to anyone else at St Kilda over 17 years, so why would he be able to now?

Having said that, as a development coach he probably has some merit. Alongside Nathan Buckley, probably the most professional attitude of anyone to have played the game.
