'Carlton's midfield a psychological minefield'

http://www.realfooty.com.au/news/news/c ... 29368.html

Quote:
I WANT to declare that I don't like Carlton and I never have. I think of Carlton as the club that cheated and the club that got caught and the club that has presidents who are investigated by the ACCC.

Can someone explain what this bloke's on about? Actually I don't think he really knows... and p.s why's he writing about Carlton's midfield when the finals series is starting this weekend? Think he's got a bit of 'carlton envy' too... must be a filth supporter

Did Carlton cheat the salary cap?

Wow! - I never knew that.

Thank god we have an even playing field now and all teams are treated equally in the AFL.

It's pretty simple, if you look at the most popular articles in the online sports section of The Age any Carlton story is usually very popular.

This is just an example of putting a Carlton story in the paper (no matter how bad it is) to help with circulation.

It's meant to be funny.

I stress "meant" to be.

But it's a long winded load of shit leading to the actual purpose which is a betting column.

Hence the betting tips at the end.

We should never have cheated the salary cap in 1970 - shame on us  .

I'm more worried about our tainted 1906-1908 run. Must be why there hasn't been a "streak" DVD released.

It is a disgraceful and pointless article, how a sub-editor could let that get through is beyond me - pretty much a reflection of the garbage that the Fairfax press pumps out now (wait for another article on the Tigers by Caro this weekend or one from Rohan Connolly on the Bombers). As for Leaping Larry who now tends to write Sporting Life (Geoff McClure is sick I think) well I have no idea what he is ever on about (and he is too gutless to use his name!).

Shameful, KK. I don't know how we can bare to look into our trophy cabinet. No matter how much we polish those 16 silver cups, we just can't seem to remove the tarnish.

And by the way, I love the avatar...again - keep up the good work.

If we did cheat in 1995 it was only because the bummers did in 1993. The AFL didn't seem to give a toss about that, so we thought we might as well go ahead and have a crack ourselves. You'd be pretty stupid not to, I reckon.

The article was a Mongrel Punter contribution. Nothing to get worked up about.

Well - I liked it and i like Cameron Noakes' articles generally. Gotta love talking about the Blues when we finished 11th! Finals are on this week and all I've heard is Fev, Juddy in the AFL mag, Roos and Swanny going toe-to-toe and death threats against Stevo...nothing but Carlton, Carlton, Carlton!!

...oh - and some new club for 2011 who've decided that - like Carlton - they don't need a plane, warfie, energy source or animal to market their club to the masses.

It's because "the streak" DVD has already been done by the Aints.

How could our 3 Premierships in a row compete with 14 consecutive home and away wins?

Agree.
A year ago the article would have been about us just being cheats. There is more to it these days.

I wish they'd stop talking about us as the only ones ever thought about as cheating, it really is starting to $hit me to tears. The whole comp was into it, Essenedon lost a draft pick or two because of it. Funny thing is we were the only club to be bent over completely and got our first 3 spoons in history because of it.

I think we've paid our dues

Please, let the dream reach its conclusion because i want to give it to every **** out there. Let the envy turn into reality, please.
