Oh yeh, take that P

Last time we met Carlton turned up at quarter time and won the next 3 by 4pts. Deplorable kicking by both teams a total of 37pts between them, compared to the year before where nobody could miss in the shoot out.

TJ, Power and Black thought how easy is this and smashed us in the guts, with TJ and Black kicking 5 between them.

Brown was the difference up forward kicking 6, with Carlos playing a great game when moved onto him.

We were beaten by 4 players that night, if only we had of arrived at the TD early and not given away a 37pts lead.

Key Stats:

Disposals - Carlton 405 to Brisbane 342
Bounces - Carlton 14 to Brisbane 36
Errors - Carlton 105 to Brisbane 81
Disposal per scoring shot - Carlton 33.8 to Brisbane 19

That my friends sums up why we lost. Lack of run and carry and too bloody slow to move the ball on resulting in numbers back for Brisbane forcing us to have shots from tough angles, of course a few sitters missed also. Turnovers again killed us, simply because we played too much of a indirect game.

Individual Stats:

Carlton - Scotland (39p, 10m, 10r50, 8err), Murphy (33p, 11i50, 10err), Stevens (26p, 11err), Fev (10p, 5m, 5g, 5pts), Waite (25p, 9r50, 9err), Carrazzo (21p, 9err)

Brisbane - Johnstone (34p, 9t, 3g, 6cle BOG), Power (33p, 6t), Black (29p, 2g, 6cle), Brown (14p, 7m, 6g, 3pts)

What does it tell you? Yes meat was on special again at Princes Park on Monday. Butchers had a field day at TD. Fev will kick a bag if the service is quick and efficient.

Changes:

Blues
In - Armfield, Walker, Thornton, Houlihan, Hammer, Cloke
Out - Bentick, Hadley, Chief, Carlos, ACKLAND, Betts

Lions
In - Hanley, Hawksley, Dalziell, Moody, COPELAND
Out - Harding, Clark, Drummond, Selwood, Notting

Last time we won against Brisbane in the home and away season is Round 8 2001, the game that I like to say won Brisbane 3 Premierships, now they owe us a favour so let Fev kick 10 you pricks!!!

Now for my take on tonights game. As i said in the pre-match thread, stop 4 players and we win. Quite easy really isn't it? NOT when they are Travis Johnstone, Luke Power, Simon Black and Jonathon Brown

If I was coach I'd be starting Bower on Brown, Jamo on Bradshaw (T-Bird if Jamo doesn't play), Gibbs on TJ, Murphy vs Power (Head to Head) and Carrots vs Black. I'm expecting Sherman to get Judd around the ground and Adcock to get Stevens.

Defensively we need to increase the disposals per goal for Brisbane, against North the goals came to easy as the midfield were stuffed and couldn't pressure North. If the same happens this week we will be down by 6 goals again early and Brown/Bradshaw will have 6-8 between them by half time. We were smashed against North by Grant and Harvey up forward so our smaller defenders need to lift this week.

The Brisbane defence I don't rate at all, in saying that we must find options other than Fev and use them. Hoops played HFF in the Bullies last week so I'd expect him to be a lead up target but also crumbing packs this week, I get the feeling the Houligan will cut lose tonight and kick 3-4. If we can isolate Cloke/Kreuzer/Hammer up forward in the square we need to make sure we have the crumbers in support, I'm sick of watching the ball get swept away with no pressure lately.

AFL is so simple really, no pressure and you lose momentum and get smashed in a hurry, our second quarter especially is very poor pressure wise, like I say every week, if we are in touch at half time <12pts we will win, unfortunately we always play crap in the second so I'm not getting my hopes up. I'm tipping Fev to kick 7 tonight and the Blues to come from 3 goals down late in the 3rd to win by 4pts.

My man JR will kick 2-2.

You're not wrong, these threads have been some of the funniest of the year. I wonder who's going to make themselves look like an absolute dill this week

Well, there's one withdrawal! I'll try not to, but my stats and scores seem to be a bit questionable recently!!

Keen is right, Lowey! Too bad the AFL can't give you a decent support card (Ric v Fre, and Pta v Mel)! Is the breeze a 1-goaler or a three-goaler?

Just had a nice skype chat with my brother and his family who are off to the game tonight. Said it was a sunny day after rain yesterday.

My little men are looking forward to it and will no doubt be cheering Fev on.

Anyone going tonight see some kids with lightsabres, that will be my nephews.

Great post mjonc.

Hit nail on head.

4 quarter effort is needed. I know the boys know that and consider our previous encounter as the one that got away (in the 1stQ).

Bower on Brown; I believe that will happen.

I assume the rumour (referred from Big Footy) regarding Jamo and Browne are not tru and will be playing. Is that right? I dn't believe what I read on BF, in fact I avoid it unless I'm really bored or TC is thin with new posts.

I just want to see something different; finish the year off with 2 wins to show our potential next year.

Very excited to have Houla back, but especially with this line up.

This time around we have 3 ruckmen to rotate and none of them is underdone (and non of them are Ackland). This should stem the bleeding we experienced in the centre bounces last time with the 2 short rucks.

Not that I really an worried about win or lose, but I have a feeling we will win as we have nothing to lose, and a few reputations are on the line.

I expect Judd to have more impact on this game than Johnstone and Power combined...I really do.

The team,s will not line up as selected, and I think that Fev, Houla, Kreuzer and Cloke in the forwardline will stretch them. I also expect if Fisher does play on a wing to play as the fith tall, and will surprise them with 3 goals.

Brisbane have alot to lose, and are playing at home so should have enough motivation and advantage (add Brown & Bradshaw) to win, but we'll probably surprise everyone (except the players) and win by 23 points; just a hunch we will have forwards this week.

GO BLUEBAGGERS!!!!!

According to Game Day Live, the teams are
27 Dennis Armfield
18 Paul Bower
15 Steven Browne
44 Andrew Carrazzo
28 Cameron Cloke
25 Brendan Fevola
14 Bradley Fisher
4 Bryce Gibbs
16 Shaun Grigg
22 Shaun Hampson
33 Ryan Houlihan
40 Michael Jamison
5 Chris Judd
8 Matthew Kreuzer
3 Marc Murphy
2 Jordan Russell
29 Heath Scotland
6 Kade Simpson
24 Nick Stevens
32 Bret Thornton
30 Jarrad Waite
1 Andrew Walker
so the rumour (whatever it is) would be a falsehood .. meanwhile for tbe blions they will be fielding
7 Jed Adcock
20 Simon Black
36 Daniel Bradshaw
17 Jared Brennan
16 Jonathan Brown
19 Jamie Charman
30 Robert Copeland
18 Anthony Corrie
34 Bradd Dalziell
42 Pearce Hanley
12 James Hawksley
33 Rhan Hooper
4 Travis Johnstone
26 Joel Macdonald
9 Ashley McGrath
21 Daniel Merrett
10 Matthew Moody
24 Joel Patfull
6 Luke Power
35 Michael Rischitelli
29 Jason Roe
11 Justin Sherman

Will make the Coleman count interesting, with three of the top ten battling it out in the same game (Fev, Bradshaw, Brown) - just hope Brown doesn't get the bag he got against us last year!

They were teams selected on Thursday night so they wouldn't change p12terg.

45 minutes before the game will tell the story.

And Pavlich not playing :!:

- Jack Riewoldt lining up from 48 -- point
- Running goal to Foley .. sounds like the Dorkers have already given up
- Edwards a wobbly kick for a point
- Connors left-foot snap from within 20 -- point
- Four minutes to go, and Tambling levels it up
- Palmer kicks Freo's fifth in only the third play in the last 10min which featured anyone of the home-team players
- Peat kicks on the siren for a disappointing point

FRE 5.1 31
RIC 3.6 24 is the quarter-time score at Subi

Time to ROCK & ROLL boys!!!!!

Play brave, play free football. Link up, play with & for one another, because they are your mates, liken to kin.

Be creative, with no fear & FFS be natural & play your own games. Be footballers, not sportsmen running around trying to adhere to a specific game plan. Sure stick to the game plan at all times but FFS do it whilst showing the rest of the football world why we have faith in you & in your given talents.

Get bloody angry if need be. Tear em a new one. Get right up em. In their faces at all times. At stoppages, hunt in packs, again playing with & for one another. Flow from stoppages & be first to the ball, because you want to be the one to give it to your mate, who is gunna kick a goal - right!! Yeah!!!

People say theres nothing to play for. F%$& that. Theres PRIDE. Pride for the jumper, the club, for you & FOR US. Start strong, play strong & finish stronger.

BE BLUE & PROUD TO BE SUCH. GO BLUE BOYS.
