Surely Luke Blackwell will get a game before the end of the year. He has been close to best on ground each week with the Bullies. 41 possessions on the weekend. If they are giving old guys a run like Saddington and Ackland surely the Kid deserves another chance.

How many targets did he hit with those 41 possessions, and how far away were they?

He, he, he...

I'd argue that two wrongs doesn't make a right BlueRob! That is, just because we stuff up and pick Saddo doesn't mean we should stuff up and pick Blackers.

My view is that AB is a better version of Blackers, and yet he can't crack a game. So why give Blackers a shot then?

Don't get me started on this one... I'd like to know Jarusa's thoughts though :-D

Are you talking about Carrazzo?

The key to the midfeld atm (besides individual brilliance) is pace and run.

Romantic idea to think Blackwell will make a go of it but no.

i had a premonition before the season even started - tat we would win a game at the telstra dome, with the roof closed - by 13 points and that blackwell wold snap the sealer

that is all

Bentick has had a fair chance .. Blackwell has not. If the argument is we need pace .. then that counts Bentick out as well. I just think that someone who is consistantly on fire in the Ants should get a go.

Horses for courses and hard to compare Saddo and Ackland with young Blackers as ins that could be considered. Tough to get a gig in the midfield at the moment.

Bentick at least gets his own ball.
We don't need another receiver.

There's a couple of changes I'd like to see which includes bringing in Blackers, Bentick and Pfieff and Jacko . Obviously not all at the same time, but I'd give some of these guys a go instead of Browne, Russell and Wiggins. Although the Wiggler continues to prove his worth.

I'd hate to see Blackwell go back home without being given a real good crack. Something about him - he just gets his hands on the footy and creates which is more than I can say for others who play senior footy.

Could it be that the MC have already made their mind up about Blackers & don't need to give him a game to see if he's going to be part of our future. Maybe theyv'e done that with some other kids as well.

They may have already looked at him & thought OK he's young, & so, will improve in certain areas that he is currently not good in, but he does have what is required for a future with CFC.

Maybe they are giving Saddo & the like games to see if they have still got it & giving them one last chance to show they have it.

I cant recall seeing too much of Blackers to this stage, either at AFL or Bullants, so not sure if he has what it takes, but with the current youth policy running through Carlton, maybe they have already earmarked him to stay & it's the older guys they are currently looking at, at AFL level?

Just a thought, not quite a theory. :)

Tianacon,

I reckon you are dead right... from an outsider's perspective I would say that the MC has firmly made up their minds on Blackers and that he won't get a run.

Doesn't seem to be a lot of room in our midfield and they'll be even less once Kerr arrives :P

Where in my post does it say there was???????

Just love to know why he's been given sooooo many chances against others who continue to play well at the lower level.

What did Austin, Pfieffer, Anderson do wrong when they played??

Why has Bentick been dropped after only 2 bad performences???

Why can't Blackwell get a chance to shine??

Why was Russell promoted in round 2 when by all reports did not star, like others have been of late????

not to highjack this thread into another Jordy thread, but had Jordy taken his chances in front of the sticks this year, I reckon there would be little to debate about him. His goal kicking lets him down. apart from that he provides a terrific lead up target and competes very hard. he makes the occasional goof, but who doesn't.

In regards to Blackers, I personally have a soft spot for him. he does have something about him that makes you think he could be a valuable contributor to the side. sadly time is running out, and he will be one of the ones seriously looked at come season's end as to whether he is retained on the list or not. i hope he gets another shot at it. but in the current system there has to be players moved on. you really must make an impact within 3 years, or the dream is over. alas, Blackers hasn't had that impact and he has been around for 4 years now.
