Post subject: | AFL Player Death Threats: Sheehan Says Carlton Player Target |
Sheehan names Goodes and McLeod were targeted for death threats. He says Carlton, Essendon* and North players also received threats. http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sport/afl/story/0,26576,24146513-19742,00.html Given the seeming racial nature of the threats, I guess we can narrow Carlton's target down to Betts, Walker, Anderson, and Benjamin. Whoever it is, let's pass on our best wishes because this type of business is abhorrent. |

The "good" thing about these perpetrators is that they are so stupid , they give themselves away. Here's hoping it doesn't the police don't have to use too many resources catching these (or this) moron(s). ![]() Actually just realised with Batman on the job, they'll be caught in no time...*KAPOW* ![]() |

Most of the people that issue these types of threats aren't the full quid. You can get into some serious trouble for this type of stuff and anyone with half a brain wouldn't bother doing it (even if they did feel like they wanted to put the hurt on someone)... |

standard is for this sort of stuff not to be published, the media attention will make these wackos do it more. It's similar to bomb threats etc, they very rarely get mentioned by the press, kind of an agreement with the cops. But they happen quite alot. In fact a building where I used to live in had one, everyone evacuated, little robot thing brought in, looked in a rubbish bin - nothing there, no media report on it at all. This shouldn't have been reported on either |

Most people who carry out the threat are not the full quid. |

It could also be Fevola, Waite or Judd as they played in the Hall Of Fame Game earlier this year! |

This shouldn't have been reported on either agreed kk, however with footy the normal rules of engagement often get thrown out. It's highly emotive for too many people. |

Goodes and Macleod were named... the article mentioned "racially based". There are only a few blokes on our list that should be 'worried' about this, but they should all take offence. kk is right, this probably shouldn't have been reported, but with today's media allowing for reader/viewer feedback, maybe the new approach is to have the general community flush these peanuts out so we can fit more sports and lesbian celebrity stories into the papers. Sensationalism sells.... for now. |

Death threats, pffft, a weekly occurrence in my old job. Players, celeberities and people in certain jobs get threats fairly regularly, they are in the main treated as what they are. Lunatic rantings of disturbed people. There are however occassions when they have to be taken seriously, as the person making has the intent an means to commit actual harm. I suspect that this maybe the case in this situation. |

Its probably a Ch 9 beat-up to take the heat off the filth If I remember, umpires used to get death threats every week in the 1950's & 1960's |

It was the week of the SOO game and it looks like Allies players were targetted. Might have been someone trying in a warped way to make sure the Allies lost and they won some money on a bet? |
