Waite must play in attack for the rest of the year

We need his presence at CHF

With Bower back and hopefully getting through the Bullants game we can play him down back

Betts is our second leading goal kicker and with him out for around 3 we need Waity in attack

Also with Waite there Fisher may be more effective as well

season's pretty much over...i think we should play him up front for the remainder of the season to see how he goes.

Doesn't seem to be a whole lot of choice now. Harts has seemingly blown his chance, Edwards can't get a look in, Fisher continues to struggle and Eddie's now injured.

They brought Austin in at the right time.

Just put someone big there. other than Hartlett, with the ability to mark, run, read the play and take a man. Creates another option making us more unpredictable.

Collingwood and Travis Cloke are learning that with Rocca out. Even though Rocca can't get a kick his reputation requires a man, gives another option and makes them way less predictable. T.Cloke learns what Fev goes through and found he's not quite as good.

I don't reckon he is big enough to play there permanantly. I prefer him to run free. Maybe as a wingman pushing fwd or HFF instead of Fisher.

I would play Cloke there for the rest of the year to see if he is up to it and bring in Hampson or Jacobs to have a run in the ruck.

Ditto

Even in the centreline he becomes a forward.

I think keogh just wants an able marking option other than Fev....I agree we have this need. but I'm with you CJ.

Just stick with Hartlett for the remainder of this year..is there anyone else...no not Ackland, and not Saddo.

CHF is a real problem....put Bettsy there.

if he wasnt down back we wouldnt have so much attack coming of our backline, we need him there coz thats our attacking point.

Even though he is 194cm tall he doesn't play like a genuine tall. He's more of a flanker. Combined with is poor kicking inside 50 it wouldn't be enough.

Waite plays his best footy either loose in defence or as a mismatch at half forward or wing.

It still feels a bit like robbing Peter to pay Paul at the moment.

For the remainder of the season I'd prefer to see a bit of a rotation going on, depending on match-ups. If we can do this without confusing the crap out of the players I'd be happy.

Our lack of tall options continues to hurt us. Finals are now out of the question. Bring in big red & see what he can do in the ruck. Play Kreuzer at CHF. Although he tries his heart out Cloke is not a key position player (not mobile enough) and is too short to ever become a dominant ruckman - so in the long run he is a player without a position. At least big red is a genuine ruckman and is still pretty young.

Bite the bullet and leave Waite down back and bring Austin to the forward line.

TRUE

But then there's the same argument on the flipside with him playing forward.

The question I have is whether we do have the personnel on the list to cover the CHB position as well as having the depth to cover injury, regardless of age. If we do and it happens to be a kid, lets say Austin, then we should be blooding them, if it's Setanta, and he's injured, then keep giving the kids expeience there, for depth.

No one is righ or wrong re waite's position. What we all know is that if we had CHB and CHF covered, the he'd be the most dangerous wingman in the competiton; Kouta like.

Why not.

We'll never know if we don't try.

Why give Austin a go there if we're not willing to give Hartlett a go...what happens if the skinny kid (Austin) shows as much as Harts in that position?

Intolerance? Execution?

I know a lot of people won't like it but I would give Thornton a few weeks at CHF.

He was a very good key forward at U18 level and has good skills and knows where the goals are. He is also more mobile than Hartlett or Cloke and would give a contest and is better defensively. He would suit the role especially at the TD. At the G he could play as a third tall or give us a more mobile looking forward line.

It would also add more flexibility to the side.

He was recruited as a CHF and had never played defence until he got to Carlton. We have Bower and Setanta back soon and with Ratten reluctant to move Waite so why not? We should always look within before looking outside.

Not sure why everyone feels Waite has to have a position that he's cemented to. Is it really going to make you all feel better seeing CHB or CHF next to Waite in the teamsheets each week?? The guy would easily be top 3 in our best and fairest and is playing his best footy as a guy who zones off / rebounds / matches up on athletic lead up forwards / attacks from a wing / and is occasionally thrown forward. That's what he does and he's doing it pretty well, deal with it.

Don't like it, but I'll tolerate it :) .

T-Bird has struggled lately and with all of the future tall back options we (Bower, Waite, Jamo, Austin, Walker, Banno, Grigg, Carlos (?) etc), the MC should throw him the challenge to play CHF and give us some sort of a contest there and maybe snag one or two. It may save his CFC career to show this sort of versatility. At the moment, he'd have to be obvious trade bait for a forward/ruckman that we desperately need.

Otherwise, throw Aussie there. Sure as hell they won't put Waite there as it just seems too obvious for our MC.

Kruezer is the other option but appears they won't play him there until Hammer DOMINATES for Ants and he comes in to be No 2 ruckman with Cloke. May be too big a call for the 2008 version of Hammer.

Stuff CHF anyway, who the hell is going to take Eddie's spot?

Update - Ackland 6 goals to 1/2 time for Ants. Yep, he's the CHF we need for sure 8) .

Don't laugh, this must now be on, especially against Port and its ordinary defence.

And the only decent games he's ever played for us have been against Port.
