I just wanted to share this with those who are no doubt disappointed by today’s announcement regarding Brendan Fevola.

“Brendan is a wonderful talent and obviously an important part of our team. His goalkicking is highlighted by the media and supporters but this is only one part of his game. His ability to work for his team-mates and apply forward line pressure are other areas that make him an important team player for Carlton and will be significant for the team going forward,” said Ratten.

Thanks for clearing that one up, Brett.

Elroy - will they re-sign Wiggins and are you prepared to have a wager on it?

Tell you what, on the back of this season, I would think Simon deserves a one-year deal. He was simply outstanding on Sunday, and I couldn't be happier for the bloke. I always conceded in my rants of a few years back about Simon that I never doubted his passion or committment.

To be fair to him, he has improved this year with an extended run in a settled role, and it's a credit to him and the MC.

I am more than happy to eat my words and, albeit belatedly, I did honour the bet I made.

But this time, I think I'll pass on your offer :-D

Who knows, maybe Simon will attract the interest of other clubs as an uncontracted player?

When Fev does the defensive jobs he certainly is a much more significant contributor than just a goal scorer.

Anyone who has worked with children/young people will tell you though, if you want a certain behaviour to be exhibited more often, it has to be emphasised and rewarded when it is displayed. That is exactly what Ratts does whenever he is given the opportunity to talk Fev up.

It's fair to say that rather than seeing these 'team acts' on a consistent level Ratts is actually trying to educate Fev and encourage this behaviour.

Oh, I forgot to point out that Im in no way disappointed that Fev has signed on, in fact Im glad he has shown his eagerness to get it done.

And he certainly put on a good and well spoken interview today!!

Well done Fev :-D
