I can't understand why Digby Morrell can't get a game in our senior side at the moment. We are crying out for a big-bodied player to play CHB and he would be ideal in my opinion.

I know that he is a bit slow, but he played CHB for a number of games last year and did a serviceable job. In fact it was this role that saved him from getting the chop then.

He has been dominating in the Bullants for the past 4 weeks and so surely must come under consideration this week. I know that he has been playing forward, but if it is a choice between Digby and Adrian de Luca at the moment I know which one I would be taking.

Agree. Better forward option than Deluca.

I tend to agree ADL is not giving us anything much at the moment so a few weeks in the magoos might help him.

Morrell was fine as a another tall option late last year and in the Wizzie Cup. If we get Livo back then we can have Whitnall permanently forward and Morell going back or forward depending on how the game's going.

He is never going to be a key forward but as a 3rd or 4th option he can create problems for the opposition - and he can actually kick goals

The real reson he's been out is that he aint that good and it'd be replacing bad with bad

BUT

He's gotta get a game soon after his last few in the 2's and dare I say it Clarkey too!

Can't do more than BOG for the Blue jumper brigade week after week after week

absolutely agree that diggers should get a game

we need that other tall down forward or back...i see him swapping with lance-both can play either forward or back...

he can really stretch opposition defences.

This week

FF: Betts Fevola Morrell

CHF: Campo Whitnall Waite

ADL on the bench if lucky

Welcome Jeremias. I hope you have paid your $50 first posting fee as required under the rules & regulations of Talking Carlton.

We all know Morrell ain't a key anything and so if the spine ain't right he's not going to be up there for a game. With the spine back he can play a floating back or forward, and take someone on as good as him. His marking is great as a floating forward and as a third or fourth tall he is very useful, until I guess Fish comes back.

With Livo back, I'd pick Morrell and I think Pagan will go back to Plan A and hope that this brings faster ball movement into the F50 rather than this woeful stuff we've dished up of late.

If we're picking Morell to play forward I'd rather see Bryan sitting in a pocket to knock some crumbs to the Eddster and divert a tall from Fevola and help Barney in the big time.

But that's just me. I already know what I'm going to get when Diggers runs out.

Morell is only playing out the year and its a case of swapping deck chairs.
I would rather see Bryan play or Hartlett when fit....Morell isnt big enough or physical enough to play down the spine..as Molsey said if you can match him against a third tall backman or third tall forward then he may become a useful player....my view is we play the unknown quantities rather than the known....

This is the type of team that I'd like to see on the weekend:

B: Carazzo, Livingston, Thornton
HB:Teague, Morrell, Lappin
C: Wiggins, Camporeale, Simpson
HF: Houlihan, Waite, Walker
F: Whitnall, Fevola, Betts
FOLL: French, Koutoufides, Stevens
INT: Prendergast, Clarke, Davies, Scotland
EMG: Sporn, Bannister, McGrath
IN: Carazzo, Livingston, Morrell, Clarke
OUT:Bentick, DeLuca, Johnson, McGrath

I know that I started this out as a Morrell thread, but the points with this team are:
1. Morrell and Clarke to get call up given good form for the Bullants
2. Carazzo, Livingston and Morrell will hopefully stiffen up our defence and allow Thornton to be creative on the 3rd forward.
3. Lappin was All-Australian last year on HB flank. Put him back there.
4. Have Fevola and Whitnall leading out of the square with Eddie at their feet.
5. Prendergast is needed as a backup to Barnaby given the chop on DeLuca.
6. I am still not happy about Kouta, Campo and Stevo being stuck in the midfield. Pagan cries poor, but I believe that these guys need to be rotated regardless and that guys like Simmo, Davies, Houla, Walker and even Clarkey need to be given a go. There is only ways to get a better mdfield and that is to keep rotating the players until we get the best mix. What's happened to Chambers?
7. We are short on genuine taggers at the moment. Wiggo is probably the best that we've got.

I know that we need some good draft picks, but let's put a team together that we can go and watch now. If we get some good draft picks and one good PSD pick then they may fill in 3-4 slots, but the rest have to come with what we already have. Depending on the form of Russell and Blackwell then they should be considered soon too.

Liked your team, but I would drop Prenda and play Carlos. Try him as a true back up ruckman.

He's been injured, should be back in the bullies this weekend hopefully..

If you want to reward Clarke and Morell for good Bullants form ..thats fine..but how does dropping Bentick help us. He had very good Bullants form and didnt play many minutes last week in a team that was smashed..surely we give him some game time and let him settle...how does this help in developing young players

Yeah I'm fine with that. Leave Bentick in and drop Davies then.

Just in time for the bye! Hope he can pick up his form...

If he's fit ...play him. Davies should be dropped...he was SO bad on Friday night.
1st quarter...all those points we scored...his man went to the boundary and received it and ran it into the forward zone 3 times. Each time Davies had NO idea where his man (Rooke?) was until he was fifty in front of him....to the point where after the second time there was about 10 of us yelling out in unison and pointing to get Davies attention at the kick outs...nearly worked too

let alone all the dropped marks

I'd keep Bentick and Davies but I'd drop Wiggins..... even though he is a superstar.

Diggers absoloutly dominated on Saturday, he never seen him play so well. If we pick on form, Diggers last two weeks in Magoos should get him a guernsey.

Well done Diggers. You've deserved your spot.

Now I'll have to start up a Clarke appreciation thread.
