Ok, so I've written a similar thread before...

I'd thought we'd done out dash after the Sydney game.

Time to play the kids, focus on tweakin' the game plan with a view to a top 8 assualt next year.

But oh - how thing's change.

Can we still make the finals!?

I'm sitting on the fence. I said earlier that had Carlton lost to Sydney that I'd concede our finals chances were over - as losing to Sydney would not bode well to a potential upset of the Bulldogs.

Even the most cynical, negative Carlton supporter have to feel that we still have a sniff. The past two weeks have shown glimpses of the new Carlton. Should we continue playing the way we have against Sydney and the Dogs - that relentless, attacking, near-flawless football (for a young developing side) - we could pose a threat to any one of the teams that we face before now and the start of the finals, including Hawthorn...

Adelaide

Port Adelaide

North Melbourne

Brisbane

Hawthorn

Anything's possible.

The past two weeks = Ruthless, efficient, hungry, attacking, unrelenting...

Is it just me, or does the events of the past two weeks inject some hope - not of winning the flag, or smashing Geelong in a final.

But just being there, playing a part in September. Showing the kids what is capable with belief, desire and hunger. What the kids can expect in the years to come...

Can we do it?!

Were definitely chance, I would put it 35-65 (favourite being we wont make it). When there is life there is hope though, we are only a game of 6th so of course we can make it. All games are very important obviously but playing another side in that region next week would be a huge bonus to get over the line.

Now those two games against Essendon* are coming back back to haunt us :(

We win those two, we'd be sitting fifth.

We win the one against Richmond in Rd.1, we'd be 4th.

But ah well, I'm happy as it is. Go Blues!!

Adelaide -poor form, No Johncock, Rutten injured?

Port Adelaide - crap. Playin em at home, should win!

North Melbourne - Boegy side, tough one.

Brisbane - Good support in QLD against a side that is under performing!

Hawthorn - Down on form!

We would obviously have to win at least 4 of the next 5 games to have any shot at the finals, but i think it's totally do-able.

Love that attitude.

Any side is beatable, with the way we have presented the past few weeks. Sure a few things have to fall our way (Sydney beat us at our best, only 'cos a few things fell their way) - but it's possible.

A win next week over Adelaide, and -

THE LID IS OFF!

Sydney lost that match as much, or more than Adelaide won it.

I'll be happy with whatever wins we get from now on, but I would dearly love to spank Port and hand the Roos a thrashing.

Adelaide = Shitkickers.

Punching above their weight ALLLLLLLL year.

Have been found out by the better sides, apart from Sydney. Will do nothing if they make it to September... which is why we should pump 'em and put them further out of the equation...

if we could play every game like our second half, we will be premiers.

We wont make it because we are still a young inconsistent side. This season has gone exactly as I thought: 8-10 wins, some great performances, some bad ones, a big upset or two, fall just short of finals.

If we play like we did in the second half of course we can make it but like I mentioned above we are still learning and struggling to play like that week in week out.

I reckon well beat Port and win one of the others. 10 wins, finals next season

Either way, whatever happens this year I'm stoked with the footy we've been playing, to say we were @#$%&! impressive today would be an understatement!

I also say... Watch out for CHRIS JUDD! He was allowed to play a much more creative, fluid game today and was allowed to be the playmaker, with others like Carrots doing some more tough in and under work.. Maybe his best game i've seen him play for the year! :-D

IMO Fevola was dangerous all day, and it was in the 2nd half where he really strut his stuff and getting some good proper delivery from upfield.. He's just the icing on the cake!

Gibbsy... What can I say.. His last 4 or 5 weeks have been exceptional, wasnt our best today, but was good and he coming along in leaps and bounds.. At this stage would have to be my favorite out of him and Murphy.. There's something very Hird-like in the way Gibbs moves and his poise and nous on the football field.. A true footballer!

Of the others...
* Jamison's a star, Not only a very good defender but is a very competent user of the ball too.. Rapt he's signed up with us for the next 3 years!
* Wiggler Bloody rapt for him.. A great clubman, has been through all the shit times, he would be enjoying our resurgence as much as anyone at the club, perhaps more than most if thats possible! Good honest battler, but is a great overhead mark and todays game was possibly the finest of his career..
* Nick Stevens: Brilliant game. Up there with his game against the Tigers..

But nothing could compare to the Juddsta today!

I hope every Carlton supporter is really soaking up our performances this year.. To use a Paganism, 'we'd been to hell and back' but there are some big things to come over the next few years at the CFC, and I'm stoked to be a supporter!...

Opposition supporters are going to cop a @#$%&! earful and a lot more from us over the next few years, let's enjoy it! :-D

Should add Waite, Scotto and Murph were fantastic also for us today!

I do think we'll fall just short of making the finals this year, but there is a little gap there so who knows what can happen...

What i'm more interested in is how we'll progress over the next few years! 8)

Adelaide and Port are both very winnable matches.

If so that would give us 3 on the trot and some momentum for the last three games.

At this time of year, anything can happen.

I am quietly confident sbout the Adelaide and Port Adelaide games.
Also I think we will match up well against the Roos, they have the worst backline in the league, Firrito concedes the most in the league and will get Fev. Our versatile backline should be able to account for their smalls as they get them through week in week out.
3 out of the next 5??? Not sure, will that get us in the eight???

I think we really need 4 wins to make it and for a few things to go our way with other teams as well.

No ONE last roll of any dice for us imo.

We will make of it what we will. We have 5 games left so effectively 5 rolls of the dice. We don't even have to keep winning. All we have to do is "consistently" play the way we did yesterday & the wins will come irrespective.

Coaches don't plan to WIN, they implement different structures & strategies, game plans (etc), in order to orchestrate a win. Coach one doesn't ask. Whats the plan coach 2?, who responds, today we WIN.

A batsman in cricket does not say to himself, OK today I get a ton. He will concentrate on each ball thats delivered to him & overcome those obstacles in order to reach that milestone & football games are no different.

Flower other teams & their input into us making it or not. They can make their own beds, we'll make ours & in the case of "theirs" v "ours", we win those, we are IN.

Time for this side to continue to make statements to the AFL world this year & I think they will. :)
