I was guttered on Sunday, just really shattered with the result. That game should and could have been ours. I actually think that we can mix it with the best, i think we are a way off but any given day we can cause some carnage. When things gel and the CFC is on I am adament that we can be up there. I dont mean winning the flag this year, but I was sure that we could mix it with the best. A lot of footy sometimes comes down to luck! Am i dillusional and so far off the mark? Was I right to be filthy after the game, pissed off and foul with all of the boys. Do I really not get where we are at the moment. Am i living in the fantasy world of BM and just hoping and willing better things to come or in fact should i be pissed that we have not won the games that we should have won?
A very disheartened and shatterd BM

Do not follow the light BM. Walk away from the light and turn back. It's not too late!

You're not dillusional BM :) you're just a Carlton fan.

We have high expectations at the best of times for our side, always have, & when our improvement comes as quickly as it has, our expectations can then sometimes get ahead of us. We have been hurting for so long as supporters & when we start to see what we've been waiting for for 5 years, I think its only natural for people to progress where we really are, in their own minds. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

You can still be dark on our boys, that's your right as a Blues fan, but don't be too hard on em, for too long, as they will reach yours/our expectations soon enough, IMO.

:) :)

To hurt and I mean really hurt after a loss is a good thing BM.
It reminds me of the good ol days and last Sunday certaintly did.
It means we are getting back to not accepting anything less.
Now lets hope the players feel the same as the supporters.

There's a brighter side to it all in 2008 and it ain't about finals. Next year I'll be a shattered man after a loss like that - but in July 2008, i now know what is needed in 2009 to make us a certainty for finals footy.

On an equally satisfying note - the Swans edge further in front of Collingwood for 4th spot....the last thing we need is for the Pies to win a flag out of nowhere.

Walks coming away with what looks only a strain is also another plus to come out of the game, given his first game back reminded us how good this kid can be.

No it doesn't do any harm to hurt after any loss , but the big picture is 'we have come a long way from this time last year , and we've only just started " . Have faith BM , these blokes are doing their best and we will get there . After all .WE ARE CARLTON .

Yep, BM Sunday was really hard.
But it is soooo good to feel again.

I am glad that the numbness of the past few seasons is clearing. If there is a chance I'll get sunburnt as the fog lifts and the sun shines in Blue skies then bring it on.

My hubby has been supporting Carlton only for a few years so on Sunday after the game when he said for the 1st time "that was gut wrenching" I just smiled at him because he is finally starting to "get it" when it comes to being a Carlton supporter.

"Guttered", hmm, maybe this is Scott Saunders? If we win next week and Melanie tells us she is "rapted" then we'll know for sure. :P

BM, I too was gutted. Not because of the close loss, even though it hurt as always, but because for about 20 mins of that first Q I sat back and thought "sh#t we ARE a good side. we're killing them, even if not on the scoreboard......we're back".

To lose after that, and also drop out of the finals race was the hard part. But the realisation that we will only improve from here, and pretty rapidly too, is what makes me feel good today.

Only Blue skies ahead, BM 8)

BM; sorry to read that you're shatterd & disheartened. I too have felt your pain, last week against the Saints.

Friday night, the whole world watching & I took my Dad, who's a Nth. Melbourne supporter, to show him Judd & the kids in the flesh, only to be dealt a very disappointing display.

I did not watch any other footy that weekend...I couldn't bring myself to look at another team after our performance.

As the Swans game got closer, it was easier to forget.

Bring on the Bulldogs I say & look at the positives.

The Future is Bright, the Future is Navy Blue.

Do not like the fact there is another BM around.

There is only enough room for one arrogant, delusional, rose colored glasses wearing, occassionally sulky BM on line.

And thats me!!!

PS I agree BM.

Now I am confused.

All relative though. If by chance, the Swannies win the flag in 2008, and we lose to them by two points in 2009 in a home and away game, I wouldn't be an unhappy man.

This is one positive to come from the game.
The other positive is that going into next year there will only be 3 teams for which I expect to be better than us i.e. Geelong, Bulldogs and the Hawks. All the other teams we should at least be a match for.
Just think...we have Hampson, Browne, Armfield and Bower who weren't in the team against Sydney and they are all developing nicely. Hopefully Hadley can get over his injury curse as he would make a big difference IMO.

actually I wasn't gutted at all. I thought it was a fantastic effort and shows we have made real progress this year. Another hard preseasons, some deficiencies addressed and I expect finals next year.

I was on an aeroplane and so was a captive audience watching the game. It was difficult to watch us lose our grip on the match and I couldn't fault us for trying hard, but I really did feel sad because the game was win-able and if we hadn't given all that space to O'keefe and (I can't remember his name, the bald forward) then it would have been.

The doggies will be looking to make amends for their loss on us and that will really be a tough match and curtains for 2008.

Looking forward to running out the season strongly and being in touch for 09

Hang in there girl. We win this week and we are back in with a chance again. Remember we match up pretty well on the doggies and have a fair recent record against them. I have a feeling the dogs actually worry when they come up against us. So chin up... you will be pleasantly surprised come the weekend.

Me too.

And I'm having $10 on the Baggers this week because I reckon the Cats gave the Doggies the staggers and we'll be seething.
