Carlos had a leg injury this week, hence not playing for the Bullants Aisake struggled in the VFL 2's |

No room for him. With Austin most likely to play the rest of the year, Bower back this week and Jammo at full back i doubt Setanta will play again unless we have some of those go down with injury. |

Setanta should be back in as soon as he's fit . Straight to CHB and leave him there . He always has a red hot go , is a great spoiler , and probably the best and most accurate kick to a player we have coming out of defence . Next season he cold be one of the best defensive KPP's in the comp. if given the chance . Aisake , well he looks gone at this stage . How this will effect Setanta , we will just have to wait and see . |

Or three tall's are Bower, Jammo and Austin. Throw Thornton into that mix and we have enough quality defenders Our issue is we need Browne and Armfield to fill out and become our small defenders giving us run off the backline |

Bower isn't fit yet , and will probably need a game or two in the Ants . Austin is not good enough yet , and will need quite a lot more football in the VFL . He shows plenty of signs of being a good player in the future , but not anywhere near as good as Setanta yet . Setanta needs senior football more than some others that are being persevered with at the moment . He will be a more valuable KPP than Austin next season . Austin may well be a star of the future , but he is not yet and has plenty of time on his side . At this stage we should not get to far ahead of ourselves and only look at 2009 ...... Premierships will come down the track a bit yet . |

People are way too keen to write an epitaph for Setanta. Waite is far too loose as a defender, was he supposed to be on O'Keefe yesterday? Austin is a work in progress who is a bit slow off the mark, very athletic etc. And sides have injuries. Basically we need coaching staff who get the best out of players, are open minded and don't pursue petty vendettas. We need some development staff and some coaches of the Ants who have soem experience, and good communication skills. Each game 6+ players are likely to be out with injury. This idea that our back six are 'set' afetr Austin has played one game and Waite has again ignored his oppoenent and our forward line again is a Waite short of competitive is absurd. |

According to RR Aisake had a good game in the two's, not outstanding but good. Was way better than Benjamin by comparison who also played in the two's. Check out the bullants forum for more. |

![]() ![]() ![]() Disagree, we need Setanta for the depth he provides, he can fill in in the ruck, as a key forward and a key defender. Even if he is not in our ideal starting line-up you cannot count on having no injuries. |

QFT. We seem to be way too hard on Carlos, yet more lenient on other players. The argument that Carlos wasn't born playing AFL is no longer the main reason to throw up the notion that he needs more time than others, but to discard it, isn't fair on him. Waite's issues are simply that he is far better at attacking than defending. He isn't the answer to our forward line issues, but he is better placed playing on a wing or half forward rather than defence, where his focus is not always on his man. I am not a fan of our development in some areas and no doubt this belongs in another thread, but Teague and Lappin to me, seem to be ready fixes after Mitchell left [in Teague's case] and the need for a development person/just out of football, can lead the younger players etc [in Lappin's case]. I'm not sure how you can coach when you are playing in this day and age. ![]() And I am not a fan of our ruck coach [what's his name?] - there is something not right about him always having his hands in his pockets at the huddle. Does he talk to the players or what? He doesn't seem to add any value IMO. Good luck to Steve in the next few weeks, but there is place for Carlos in our backline and the sooner the MC realise this, the better off we might be [releasing Waite and establishing a back half]. |

clearly there is plenty of doubt about that, your statement only applies against certain teams. |

Not in my mind!! Even on the bench he offers us flexibility when the structure isn't working i.e. Thorton getting a bath by Kosi or even the very loose (and seemingly untouchable) Waite on whoever he happens to be playing on. Every team needs a Setanta; we have one but it seems that our MC and coaches aren't quite sure what to do with him. Do you think that any of the other top coaches in the AFL would be scratching him off their list if they had him.....don't think so. Every team needs depth, every team needs flexibility....we need Setanta!! GO BLUES!! |

If we get rid of him (which I don't think we will) he won't get picked up by anyone else, so your argument is a little flawed. |

Setanta is somewhere in between where the two factions put him. He's not amazing and he's not completely clueless either. Forget his background and then you can make on objective assessment of his worth, some people cut him more slack because he didn't grow up playing the game and others point to that as a reason why he'll not make it. The truth is somewhere in the middle. If he's out of favour, then it's up to him to change the minds of those who've written him off. Hell, we don't even know why he's supposedly out of favour, for all we know it may even be justified if true. |
