OK. Just got a bit more info on his game. Ready for this................?

Took some strong marks and was getting a bit of the ball........but he kick 0 goals & 5 Behinds.
Pretty funny really! But good on him for getting the ball, after all he is just getting to know the game!

Had a good look at Aisake yesterday, (saw the entire game0. He played mainly in the ruck and fullforward. Did well in the ruck and seemed to be largly ignored at full forward by his teammates, most of whom were keen to kick goals rather than honouring Aisakes leads. Did take some strong marks and is not scared to mix it with the opposition. Needs a lot of work on his kicking and handball. Patience and time is what is needed with Aisake. A summer in the Gym and concentration on basic skills will make the world on difference. Should spend next season in the VFL seniors for futher develpment.

BM,

I'm interested to know your thoughts on Rob D'Orazio.

We are stuffed with we pin our hopes on a guy who can't kick or handball but listed in the bests for a VFL reserves side.

We got enough players in the seniors who cant kick or handball

PJ, Most of the reserves numbers did not match the player list. I felt a bit like a Melb supporter going Well Done Number 34 (Gives litte golf clap) But if Rob played in his jumper No 9 he went all right. Liked Mungara's game off the bench as well.

BC, a little harsh, his skills aren't bad and given he has only been in country a few months he is doing OK. Think of it as teaching an athlete the game a la Kouta. I will say one thing Aisake is bloodly quick over the ground.

BM, I got no problem with project players. None whatsoever.

I do have problems with us putting a lot of hope on thier shoulders!

I thought our only hope was to finish on the bottom and get a priority pick

Ah, but the added benefit is that it gives us first pick for an uncontracted senior player.

Yeah but you have to be able to recognise added benefits...
Glad you can Chucky

mark my words i reckon that Aisake will be better than Setanta, i have watched him at training he looks more fluent compared to Setanta. Setanta looks like he is trying to hard, Aisake kicks the ball pretty well and can see is really focusing and watching those around him.

Both Setanta and Aisake will not make it. We haven’t the time to wait 4-5 years!! Compare them both to Kinneally of Sydney in their development. We took the risk in bringing them over and they both seem great athletes, but we need great footballers. I keep seeing this all the time here. Yes…they run well and contest. But we need players who can get the pill, mark the pill, kick the pill, handball the flower pill!!!

From Saturday’s Bullants performance, it’s time to invest far more time in Batson and Jesse D Smith. They should be promoted well before our 2 Irish experiments

Tadgh played 8 games in his debut year and averaged 6 disposals - pretty good return after his debut against Carlton (we lost unfortunately!)

Tadgh had a Gaelic football background which I think has helped him make the transition much better than either Setanta or Aisake will given their Hurling backgrounds. Doea anyone know what year Kennelly come to Sydney to begin his training at the club. I am not sure whether it was at the start of the 2000 pre-season or another year?

Laguna, Denis will persist with Setanta as he is KP height and as we all know these type of players are harder to find. Although, I too have some reservation about whether he will make it. His progress, whilst spectacular at the beginning, has curtailed somewhat this year.

And that is the BIG difference

Jim Stynes was sent to Prahran in the VFA for a season when he came out here - even spending time in the Prahran seconds - and granted he had a Gaelic Football background - but the O'hAilpins are better athletes.

Setanta will make it for sure. Aisake needs more time before an assement can be made.

I was told by a senior player a couple of weeks ago that Aisake looks the goods.
He has progressed enormously in a short time.
The players believe he will make it.
I'd suggest they'd know better than us.

BTW, Sean Og was probably Irelands best in the International Rules.
A background of hurling doesnt seem to have hindered his development.
Give them time. Attitude and dedication are as important as a football background.

Of all the players on our list these two blokes deserve probably as much leeway as any. Why would we be looking to declare them as finished already when they are busting their asses at training (unlike some), are KPP height, cost us essentially nothing and have been playing for a year or less. Compare their efforts to other better credentialled teammates who have played footy half their lives, are on more cash and cost us players or picks to get.
