In the Hun yesterday was an article about Carlton Fans.

"CARLTON fans are riding a wave of confidence rarely seen at Princes Park as their club fights back from the darkest days in its history. A whopping 94 per cent believe their team is good enough to play in a Grand Final in the next five years"

In the Hun today, the Footy Fans Survey has:
What team do you support?
2008 2007 2006
Collingwood 14% 13 17
Essendon* 12 18 13
Carlton 12 9 8
Geelong 11 8 8
Hawthorn 11 13 8
Richmond 8 9 9
St Kilda 5 6 8

The data fluctuates too widely to be really accurate but :

1. Carlton is definitely on the improve because
a) we are playing a brand of football worth watching
b) we have players who are getting people excited.
2. Richmond supporters may be scum but they are steady.
3. St Kilda supporters are just fair-weather scum

This all bodes well for the future.
For far too long Carton has been supported by the baby boomers who remember Big Nick, Jezza and fantastic premierships. For too long Carlton was poor at bring the kids in and giving them heroes. Now with Judd, Murphy, Gibbs and others, we have footballers that kids can idolize.
