In the HS today Hutchy talks about the Cheer Squad leader Gaylene Duan standing down at the end of the year due to the disgust of recent messages on banners. Apparently the club provides the messages and the cheer squad don't have a say. Jill Lindsay also expressed concern.

Here a few of the upcoming ones:

"No mention of the F-word" - vs Saints

"Dog Obedience Class" - Bulldogs

The message on our banner against the tigers was poor form. Im sure we wouldn't appreciate a message like that if we were celebrating our history

Agreed. Thought it was teriffic. What did you wanted it to say:

"100 years centenary Tigers - you deserve to win today!"

:?

"Yellow and Bleak" - freakin' hilarious.

Oh well, IMO as long as we get another Cheer Squad leader and the team keeps coming up with funny banner messages I don't care...

...s'all 'bout the arrogance, innit?

Over at CSC there's a wanker emoticon, that comment suits it down to the ground.

Are you serious?

I know at Collingwood the cheer squad come up with the banners (actually there's a competition on Nick's every week where anyone can have a go and they choose the best one).

The Club still has to OK it, but that's their only involvement.

I LOVE the bagging banners. They're fun and provide entertainment for all. My favourite of all time was our first game against Melbourne when Peter Moore had joined them.

"NO MOORE TROUBLE AT COLLINGWOOD".

The boring sponsor dominated ones are my least favourite. Banners should be for honouring a milestone, or sticking it up the opposition.

I didnt know that, that is fantastic. If anyone has a shot of that I'd love to make sure that was in the Blueseum.

Haha, unbelievable. I am absolutely loving the banners - it's about time someone started producing ones that are actually worth reading. The Richmond one was hilarious, and the Saints one is also great.

Hahaha, I'd love to know who comes up with them, because they are quality

I think we can all agree that our banner for each week should say but one thing

Banners are an embarrassing part of our game. If i have people from overseas coming to a game with me i generally try and get there after the whole busting through the tissue is over to save having to try and explain it.

Id be happy if the Blue boys just ran out with a few kids who deserve the thrill of running onto the ground with the blues.

Find new and fresh ways to entertain the kids and the people from the cheer squad.

If we have to do it id prefer the club do it themselves and get it right. I like the idea of making the message more spiteful. At least we can get some sort of thrill out of it.

Maybe, but it seems to be producing better banners than it used to!

The funny part of this story is that they thought his surname was spelt 'MORE'
