I'm off overseas with Mrs Dom_7 for 7 weeks as of next week and was wondering if anyone could let me know how to best keep in touch with the goings on in the AFL and in particular the Blue boys of course...

I'll be back in time for Rnd 22 so hopefully by the time I'm back, we'll be playing that last game for a chance to get some finals action...

Best way would be to fly back each weekend to see the game, then go back to Europe again after that.

Hi Dom - I'm off to the States for a month and as far as I am concerened where we are right now is the best place to be. I'll be logging in when ever I can. A mate was in Europe over the new year and said there are internet cafes all over. Not so much in eastern Europe but France, Germany, Italy and Spain - no problems at all.

Have a great trip.

This very site is the ONLY way to really know what's going on. I wouldn't survive without it!!!

Is what I was going to say .. the Carlton League of Nations shows wide-ranging support on game day every week .. links are posted to the audio (from afl.com.au) and someone sometimes even puts vision links up

www.talkingcarlton.com - the only way to keep up with The Blues when not in Oz

Hi,

As someone that lives in Europe the internet is a godsend. Without doubt the place to be is here. I have someone that sends me our wins on DVD, which has worked well although I'm still a little behind. You can listen to the radio broadcast over the net on the AFL site. If you want to watch the games you can download this little application from http://jlc-software.com/?page=internet_tv.html

Here you can go to the Australian section and click on the bigpond sport area (I think it takes Fox 3), which shows you all the replays of every game each week. They replay them one after the other so you need to use a bit of thinking in relation as to when the Carlton game is likely to be on, but it is not that hard. Just click on the link, see what game is being played, go back to the AFL site see where the Carlton game is in relation to the one being shown and then allow about 3 hours per game.

On re-reading this, it sounds more complicated than it actually is and the quality is ok. At least you get a feeling for what's going on.

I lived in London in 1971. You had to wait until Monday to buy the newspaper (The Express I think) to get the results.

If you went to Australia House you could read the Melb Sun, Age & Herald a few days later.

I ordered my father to post me back copies of the Sporting Globe

Just got back from a 15 month stint in LA, and there were 2 games every week broadcast live on Setanta Sports. Setanta is a UK based channel. Check out www.setanta.com for TV listings. Just head down to the nearest pub that has it. For anyone in LA - head down to the Kings Head Pub in Santa Monica - they have it and a great range of beers too. Worked out great in LA, a Saturday afternoon 2pm game live was 9pm LA time Friday night.

hi there! As we speak im on the greek island of Crete in an internet cafe... As Taff said there are plenty of internet cafes (thank god) around europe and TC and carltonfc.com.au are the best places to keep you posted. the only thing is it dosnt let you watch the videos on bigpond tv (highlights of the match) if someone can post the highlights on youtube it would be greatly appreciated (richmond game) because we have acces to that.

By an AFL internet account re malaka and watch the games 2 hours after they're played, otherwise while in London (if you're going there) the Slug and Lettuce shows all games. In Greece, if you go to Mykonos there's a mparaki right next to the bus stops which has British Eurosport and they'll show a game or two on replay. Gameday live provides direct radio links to all games. Enjoy!!

Can you actually get the damn thing to work? If I try and watch a game it's a miracle if the thing actually loads in the first place, and then if it does it invariably stutters and stutters and eventually just gives up. I hate the AFL website, and I hate the bigpond video function!
