Post subject: | Ackland for FF? |
Interesting conundrum developing. Has kicked bags in the last two weeks and actually looks really good at FF. (never thought I would suggest his name again ![]() We are struggling to kick goals and Fev is more of a leading forward where Ackland has been at home on the lead and pack marking. Also can be used to pinch hit in the ruck. Edwards also played further up the ground today and looked better. Played a role similar to Fisher but has just as good hands if not better and is certainly a better kick. Hartlett also looked a real option. A forward line of: HF: Edwards Hartlett Gibbs F: Betts Ackland Fevola might not be that bad, certainly different? |

If I see Ackland anywhere near Carlton I will vomit and then eat it again because he isn't worth it... Okay maybe a bit of an exaggeration. BUT...... Unfortunately he just reminds me so much of Dennis Pagan. He was one of those has beens that were picked so Carlton wouldn't be so shiete in their darkest hours, but he just made it worse. If you were at the Bullants vs. Casey Scorpions game then you may think again about putting him in the 1sts. He was almost WOG (Worst on ground) in the 2nds! He's had 74 games to prove himself in the AFL. And quite frankly I don't remember one good game. He may be okay in the reserves, but he just can't cut it at AFL level. We could try, but form in the AFL suggesting he would poop his pants and waste a spot, instead of blooding a kid. |

what have we got to lose? i hate ackland's output at carlton as much anyone but we are screaming out for a big option in the forward line to help fev. ackland may just help solve thsi problem for us. the least we can do is give him a go nd if it doesn't work out then we have just confirmed what we already think and won't die wondering. |

No huh? No with no reasoning? If you are going to discount the idea immediately and so emphatically, you should give reason. There are a lot worse ideas out there... |

Bring in Hammer down forward if we want a random ruckman there. Or just play Krooz down there. Just not the Hack man. And the reasoning question from SparkyBlue... I guess you skipped over my post. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Before some of you guys really go off look at it this way. He has a contract until next year. His games at Carlton have all been in the ruck and he is NOT big enough to be a ruckman. I have seen him the last 2 weeks and if you didn't know it was Ackland you would be excited about the possiblity of this guy lining up at FF. The Ackland of the past 2 weeks is not the same Ackland that has been at the club for the past couple of years. If he could maintain that form at senior level it would be an advantage! |

Sorry you've got me I cant think of a worse idea....... Seriously I really dont think Ackland is up to it. I only remember seeing the guy play one good game at the top level - and that was at the TD against us when he was playing for the Saints. My reasoning is that he has been tried many times and failed. I do agree another tall is needed but not the one suggested. I would be happy to be proven wrong for the sake of the team though as the consensus seems to be that he has done well in the 2's recently. |

I strongly believe that with Ackland in the goal square, it will take a lot of pressure off Fevola, I dont mind seeing Hartlett at CHF. you never know we might be starting something really terrific who knows. |

It’s funny how some people rate some players on this forum, like with some players regardless how sh*t they play they still treat them like they are knights in shining armor, yet with some other players one or two bad games and they keep on cursing them all the time. |

After the shit sandwich served up today, maybe some "left-field thinking" is in order. Is it any worse to try? After all, he's part of the club, whether some like it or not. |

This flower has the tools to be a better than average footballer. Stick him in the goal square for the next two games. If he can't get a kick, ship him back to the Saints... |

I know Hartlett has been injured but it's time for him or Edwards to be given a long(er) stint at CHF. Ackland hey? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Listening to Lloyd being interviewed after the game he basically said that they have himself and Lucas (even included Monfries). We basically have Fev. |

Why not - he'd come cheaper than Fev ![]() |

I'd try either Ackland, Hartlett or Edwards or all of them. We need someone with height and bulk to support Fev. It is plain and simple. |

try anything once - if he kicks a bag - Fev might think 2 mills not so bad after all |

His attitude and work ethic dont cut it at senior level.....he can be lazy and half arsed at VFL level and get by even dominate as he has size and experience over his opponents. Lets not get desperate and stick to the youth plan....Hartlett, Edwards and Hampson should be under consideration this week not Ackland. If we select Ackland then you know the football dept and MC dont have a clue.... |
