Why was the free paid against Fev for the hit on Slattery? Anyone know? If it was for head high then it was poor call, 1 of many I might add. If Slattery wants to be brave and suicidal at the same time that's not Fev fault. He's entitled to run at the ball and attempt to mark it. The fact that he jumps in the air to mark and collects Slattery coming the other way is surely incidental contact. Regards Cazzesman |

I think "unrealistic attempt" was the reason the ump gave. Which is interesting, considering Fletcher pushed him into it. |

We seemed to be on the bad end of most of the umpiring today. Even this one against Fev is debatable. |

In fact, I thought it should have been a free kick AGAINST Slattery for a "Whitnall shepherd"....... |

Regards Cazzesman If anyone can figure out why a lot of things happened today it might make things more clearer. ![]() These umpires all round are all over the shop. They set precedents independant of each other which is interpretated differently by the other one. The players taking on board the first interpretation are then pinged the next time round. ![]() |

ridiculous decision. Should have been a free kick to Fevola. But because Slattery was KO'd suddenly its an Essendon* free kick... ![]() |

Monfries free kick coming after the missed one to O'hAilpin. In the back to Stanton when there was absolutely no forward pressure on his back. Missed holding free kick to Fisher in the goalsquare because Ray couldn't see anything because he had his hands over his eyes to protect them from the sun. Fifty metre penalty to Hille The list goes on.... |

the fact that free kick was paid to Essendon* shows that the umpires arent up for it. it was a reactionary decision based on nothing but emotion becuase the guy was ko'd yet just another example that then umpire with emotion when we are constantly told they are not. the ref was shithouse, but, its not why we lost the game. |

http://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/video/0,,AFL%20News_8020,00.html this shows a good angle of the fev-slattery incident...fev clearly had eyes for the ball and it was obvs an accident. as for slattery, he wasn't even facing the ball. as for all those cretins on bomberblitz labelling him a 'hero' and being 'courageous', it was a stupid attempt to stop fev. definately no free-kick there. fev did nothing wrong, slattery was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. |
