We have been back in the draft now for four years. Why is it that we do not have a single genuine key forward prospect on our list other than Fev. (You may point out Kreuzer but he was a given and will probably end up in the ruck.) Who is responsible for this disaster? We literally have not one key forward coming through, and today Essendon* showed they have a couple and Gumbleton isn't even playing. We need to obtain some key forward prospects as soon as possible. Whether that's picking the best available with our first pick, trading for Mitch Thorp, or someone else, we need some more forward options or our brilliant midfield of Judd Murphy Gibbs Stevens inter alia will go to waste.

We had one. We had to give him up for Judd.

waite should play forward which would mean that we will need to trade for someone like mundy so he can move CHF.

Because we not playing Hartts and continue with wiggins and fisher as forward options who in my eyes are useless.

Surely both must get dropped this week

there were numerous times today going into the foward 50, where they could have handballed it to a running/open player but chose to goto fev.

Fisher misses from 50 and 45 from set shots, in fact didn't make the distance. It happens week after week after week. Unless Fisher marks within 20 he isn't dangerous and it 's about time we gave someone else a chance.

No, it's the guy who was said crap side's best forward by a mile, and is now injured.

Didn't take you too long Melvin.

You must love it when we lose.

It's the only time you are so animated on TC.

Interesting that there was no sign of him in the game thread this week (unless of course he was at the game). Scared of a repeat, perhaps?

Drafting a key forward is now a priority. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded. Our midfield is almost A grade, and our backline is coming along nicely. Our dependence on Fev is our big weakness (not to deride fev, he has been awesome this year), but we need more options and we need them fast. IMO trade for Thorp.

Or buying one would be better!

lets not panic about another key forward. Waite is the answer.
our best 22 has more than enough backmen to cover for him.
walks Jamo Bower
Banno TBird Carrazzo

Nonetheless, Ratts needed to that the gamble today that Waite could go forward and kick a few instead of worrying about covering mcphee or a struggling Lucas.

now that waite is gone down back, yes he is our only option.

betts is obvs. too small, fisher is a fantastic mark but his kicking lets him down and doesn't always see a lot of the ball. we don't have any consistent targets up forward. fev is the best we have.

The problem at the moment is that Fisher's leads are ignored, which is why he gets in Fev's way.

Fisher however, can't kick from anywhere further than 35m out, which is why he is ignored.

Conundrum.

We need another tall forward who A. does not get in Fev's way and B. is looked to by the players when kicking it inside 50.

Fisher has one weakness and you highlight that and gloss over the marks and possessions when he is leading up onto the wings?? (which is his role in the team)

I hope you, as a mod, delete your own post for not being intelligible enough

The other thing is, no intelligent person could criticise Fisher for not being the a taller marking option.... he's Brad Fisher not Barry Hall.

The weakness in the team structure isn't Fisher's fault. He plays a very positive role, with Wiggo, leading up onto the wings.

With a "Jonathan Brown" CHF Fisher's importance as an option maker would be magnified. Anyone who criticises Fisher for not being Jonathan Brown is a dead-set moron

Wrong.

Legspeed, getting in Fev's way, kicking for goal and no accountability are Fisher's weaknesses. He's useless when he doesn't mark it and the ball hits the deck for his opponent to clear the ball.

He's always lagging behind his opponent on a chase.

i fully agree, however, i think the problem today was that as others mentioned, fisher was ignored, and had to push up to the wing to get kicks. at times the delivery wasnt flash, but with fish and wiggo, at least for the majority of the time, fev was able to only have one man on him. i think, harsh as it may sound, as i like him, wiggo needs to go back to the two's and we must evelate edwards and give him game time. having backs out like banno, walker and bower hurts our forward structure
