A long-term quality poster on BigFooty has indicated that the Herman snap goal to win the 1988 game against the Bears at Carrara was from Sartori and not Madden. Can anyone confirm this? http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... 21%2C+1988 From the Blueseum |

Newspaper clipping I have says: Quote: Kicking with a four-goal wind in the final quarter, Carlton clawed back from a 15-point deficit at the last change to hit the lead after 29 minutes in the last term when Ian Herman roved a Justin Madden tap-out and goaled from a tight angle.

I think Ian Herman works for PWC (or one of the other big firms) - a blueseum interview perhaps? I had the pleasure of sharing a hospital room with him in 1990, nice bloke. Would have been a nightmare for him though, trapped in a room with a footy fan! |

It is quite possible it was Sartori, even though the paper reported it as Madden. Depends on how good this bloke's memory is. |

I thought it was Sartori. He had great palming skills when he could get body on body with his opponent. |

From the Bluesuem After tracking down Ian, and having an initial chat, he hasn't returned our calls / emails to try to finalise this question. Does any TC poster know Ian so we can finalise this? From the Blueseum |

We at the Blueseum have been trying to track this one down. Whilst we've found press reports to say it was Madden, weve tracked Peter Sartori down to a high flying job in Singapore... but he doesn't remember this game!!! We've tracked down Ian Herman.... but havent got a clear response. Any ideas? Does anyone know Herman? From the Blueseum |
