Post subject:  The boy's birthday

So today the oldest turned 4 and since I took him to the first Carlton Collingwood game and he met Twigs on the train game he has loved the blues.

He knows the song, he can name the following players by their numbers, 2,3,4,5,6,8,19,24,25,30,44 - (can never remember Bentick and knows that 1 hurt himself) - he has even taught his 2 year old brother how to identify Judd, Fev and Kade "Simpsome" in a team photo.

He told me the other day that Juddy is great because he has good balance.

This morning for his Birthday he got a flag to wave when Fevvy kicks a goal, a CD with all the club songs and some Blues facepaint.

His party is this afternoon and I spent last night making 50 blue cupcakes iced with the CFC logo - the wife baked a cake that looks like the MCG with a Captain carlton figure and some players, goal posts at Footy shaped candles.

I'm just a bit concerned that we aren't doing enough to support his interest in football. Any suggestion?

take him to training, photos with a player, autographs etc............then he can do the same (boom tish!)

I remember going to a certain persons 21st at a reception centre that has since closed down to make way for a freeway. He had a mock cardboard grandstand with a television as the scoreboard with the 87' gf showing the whole night.

Were you there DN?

Have you bought your son a membership DN? :-D

Carlton undies?

Carlton bed sheets?

Carlton toys for bath time?

Carlton serviettes for meal time?

Carlton height/growth chart (with players heights marked -- that would be pretty cool!)

Carlton footballs?

Carlton slippers?

Carlton cap/shirt/jumper?

Carlton door bell for the front door?

When you get the kids to play pass the parcel, make sure the parcel is wrapped up in Carlton articles from the papers.

Musical chairs to the Carlton theme song.

Pin the "Carlton" on the Premiership Cup. This is good as you can have 16 rounds so it's sure to take up some time.

Carlton face painting for the kiddies at the party.

When he keeps a secret make his "password" Mens sana in corpore sano.

I'm sure there's plenty more suggestions to come...

And, of course, wish a happy "Bryce Gibbs" to darknavy jr from all of us at TalkingCarlton. 8)

I want a son now .. how does one go about that?!

Seriously, good effort dn! I know that, regardless of whether our (planned) child is male or female, I will have them follow "a proper code" and, the right team ...

Southern Cross - Sadie and Jack Fink.
Couldn't even think of whome the grand master and Dame followed. Never came up in a conversation.
BUT.........

Ahh the memories of the Reception Centre.

I reckon you'll need Eddie McGuire to give you a hand with that.
