Hi I am hoping someone can help me here....

The AFL Broadcast schedule indicates that this weeks game will be shown live into NSW Canberra via Main Event (CH 518) on Sunday.

This sounds all good, however it directly conflicts with the information shown in the Main events AFL schedule for 2008. It is also worth noting that at no time this year has Main Event televised AFL games on Sundays into ACT / NSW or anwhere else for that matter.

I have also checked the TV guide on Main Event on the actual foxtel box for this SUnday, and again it does not show our game as being shown on Sunday...

If anyone out there can clarify what is the actual situation I would would be most appreciative.

Cheers

Best bet is to hit the TV Guide button on a foxtel remote and go to channel 518 and flick through the guide till you get to Sunday's schedule. It should actually detail the fact that the game is being shown live on 518.

I havent checked myself yet but we're pretty confident it will be on live and we'll be back at Eastlake to watch the game.

Meantime, the Sydney / Melbourne game being played IN CANBERRA is being screened live into the ACT on both Foxtel and FTA.

NFI is you ask me, and I'd suggest writing to the ABC (maybe go to the GrandStand site) about it since they're virtually the only neutral party in all of this!

regards

Rich

It is on FTA. At 11:45pm.

"Unprecedented coverage" my fat hairy arse.

Live into Sydney is one thing, but to have the match on both FTA and Fox concurrently makes a lie of the "greater coverage" argument.

Rich - I did that and it shows "Jeff Fenech - I lovs youse all" or soemthing on at 2pm Sunday  ....

Unprecedented Live Coverage my arse... The ironic thing is that the Sydney/ melb game is being played at Manuka Oval in the ACT yet the einsteins have decided to screw potential gate nos, screw people who might actually follow an AFL team outside of NSW and put the game live on FTA and Fox Sports...

Thanks for nothin...

Well...

This makes me feel better about the fact that I'll be going down to Melbourne for this game :)

Yep thats fine - show it live in SYDNEY.... But when the game is actually being played in Canberra and you still don't get any live coverage of the Blues v Essendon* game in Canberra because of this bullshit rights deal then hey I think thats crap!

At least Sydney have some relevance to N.S.W. and the A.C.T. Got me flowered how the Sydney v Melbourne game has any relevance to Brisbane...

Of course, it won't amount to three parts of shit all, but some may consider following the predictably laborious "Contact Us" form on the AFL website to provide some feedback on this matter.

;)

phone call to the AFL tomorrow

this is beyond ridiculous!

Hopefully the Canberra Times and Crikey are gonna pick up on this after a quiet word in their ear...

- I wonder what we'd get for $1b? Probably Syd. vs Melbourne be on FTA, 501 and 518 all at the same time!

Carlton really should be asking for two games against Sydney every year as they will be shown exclusively in the NSW/ACT and SE Qld markets. Would keep the sponsors happy...

QFT.

Plus, NSW has the largest group of supporters outside Vic. We'd get one guaranteed match up here each year, and would probably transform a fair few supporters into members.

this happens all the time all around australia

we constantly get eagles and dockers here in perth on both FTA and FOX at the same time and WE DONT have access to 518 ON ANY DAY !!!!!!

The AFL dont give a shit

we have to live with this pathetic crap and they dont care or understand at all.

i used the AFL website feedback form to complain and they told me to get foxtel - ( i already have foxtel doesnt help when FTA shows the same thing at the same time ) they have absolutely no idea of the situation at all.
