Hi all

Just a small story I would like to share with you. I moved up to Sydney now 6 years ago, got married, had kids etc, etc. It always bothered me how I would be able to teach my kids to love Carlton (let alone AFL).

Anyway, my delightful 2 year old daughter was watching the Game with me on Sunday and recognised the Carlton jumper. She jumped up and asked if she could get "Daddy's Carlton Jumper" for me (I have a signed No. 5). She got it and I put it on.

After the game she sang the song with the team, this from a two year old who has never been to a match. Brings a tear to my eye.

Carn the mighty blue-boys

She'll come around marci. Tell her how much it hurts when we lose and how good it feels when we win. Eventually she'll understand and want Daddy to be happy.

Or, buy her a cat. Kick it when we lose and have it sleep on her bed when we win :lol:

A little bit off the topic but my parents are in Italy at the moment so I was sending Dad scores and called him after the game to let him hear the song. Anyway, I got a message from him saying that he had been to a relatives shop, who he had never met, and there was a Carlton jumper hanging from the wall along with posters from 95 among other things. So Dad said "big game today" and the guy who barely spoke english replied with "yeh, fev kicked 8, I watched it on the internet". Fair to say Dad was blown away.

Got back home from the game yesterday and started singing the song to my 4 year old boy. He knows the first few bars and then somehow turns it into some song he's learned at kinda.

Then I sat down with him and showed him the highlights on Fox Sports News. I told him that i was there today and he asked which player I was. I kept telling him I was in the crowd, but he didn't get it and just wanted to know which player I was... so i told him i was Fev.

Am negotiating a new contract with Swanny today.

I can't match the stories of those who were at the game, but I am walking around feeling 10 foot tall with a massive grin on my face.

Monday's haven't felt this good for a very long time.

my brother in-law who lives in Sydney called me during the game, he was excited watching the blues as I have dragged him to a few games - reckons his 6 month olds first words will be go blues

There was a puddle under my daughters seat yesterday. I kept telling her to make sure her scarf and bag didn't fall in it and get soaked. Anyway, she kept on telling me that this 'chubby' little collingwood kid kept on kicking her seat and waving his flag in her space from the seat behind. At half time she said; "I want to punch that kid in the nose." I laughed and said "don't worry about him." "but Daddy, he keeps on saying nasty things about Juddy, Murphy and Fev" "don't worry, that's footy, by the end of the day we'll be in front and that'll shut him up" At 3/4 time we stood up and I noticed the kid's flag lying in the water under my girl's seat. I said "how did that get there?" "I don't know" she said with a smile, the flag now filthy and dripping wet - seems she'd grabbed the stick that had fallen through between her feet and dragged it just far enough forward to get the flag sitting fair and square in the puddle. I asked her to give it back to mini Eddie but she refused. So I picked it up and handed it to the kid behind and said "I think you dropped this" He said "ohhhhh, Dad, look at my flag, it's wrecked. Can we leave it here" "No son, we'll take it home and dry it out" Not long after I saw Dad throw his scarf 4 rows away. I love being a father .

That’s great DH! Im still trying to get my 3 year old to take to the Blues. She’s still unconvinced and hasn’t really taken to the sport. She keeps telling me she goes for the pinks (just her being girly, her favourite colour) – I am waiting for a moment like that from her when she finally embraces the Blues. She better or she’s in for a tough childhood in the marciblue household!!!

Congratulations Well I can tell you that there's a whole new level of enjoyment with kids...(Lord knows it got me through 2002- 2007!)

Yeah BC3 Twinone is my well, Twin. I am now waiting for my new daughter, Hannah to learn the song, but given she is only 3 weeks old, I am willing to give her some time. It should be easier as her older sister will help me. DH

Highlight of the day was seeing a 13 year old (or so) kid giving it to a 30 something year old filth feral after he was cheering when he thought Pansy had kicked a goal (it was a behind). Yells across to him "Sit down you dumb @#$%&! - it was a behind - geez you cauliflower really are the lowest form of life ain't ya?"

A girl in front of me (early 20s) had the heckle of the day. When Waitey kicked the goal and the bogans started leaving she yelled; "Hey maggies, all your faithful, loyal supporters are leaving you. What do think about that? They know you can't do it, they KNOW you're no good hahahahah!!" She was a beauty!!

And much, much more Walking into the ground we passed a typically feral bunch of filth supporters having a BBQ at the back of their F350 twin cab ute (obviously stolen). They were laughing while drinking their VBs and smoking their Winnie Blues. The kids were playing footy and life was just so grand. On the way out was a different story indeed. 3 men sitting on the railing fence behind the stolen F350 still with VB and fag in hands, heads down muttering something about @#$%&! Judd and @#$%&! umpires . We got to a safe distance past these three creatures and I turned my girls around and pointed to them, gave them a quick lesson on the differences between us and them, and headed back to the car.
