The Carlton Football Club 2008 Charity Edition of Monopoly was officially launched on June 12 at the MCG.

The game celebrates Carlton’s remarkable history as well as today’s players. The Carlton version of the world famous board game features 22 current players and four icons of the Club. Rather than wheel and deal with Mayfair and Park Lane, players have the chance to build a footy-opoly empire through buying, renting and mortgaging their favourite Carlton stars. Stars and legends featuring the ‘top end’ of the Board Walk include Chris Judd, Brendan Fevola, Nick Stevens and Marc Murphy.

Carlton Legend and Vice President, Stephen Kernahan, has given his full support to the game and in particular the fundraising that will benefit Peter Mac.

“With only 4000 games produced we’re confident these collector edition games will sell like hot cakes. And it doesn’t matter who your favourite player is because when you buy one of these games you’ll be supporting Victorians with cancer through the Peter Mac Foundation.” Kernahan said at the launch.

The games are now on sale for $79.95 at all 26 Spotlight Stores, all Supercheap Auto stores, selected AFL Stores and from The Carlton Shop. Proceeds from the sale of the game go straight to the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, supporting Australia’s most comprehensive and internationally acclaimed cancer centre, Peter Mac.

Spokesperson for Peter Mac, Andrew Kinnersly was delighted to be involved with the limited edition Carlton version of Monopoly, “This is a fantastic product and the fact it is endorsed by the AFL as an official product gives it enormous credibility.”

The game is an initiative of the McGuinness McDermott Foundation (MMF). The MMF is an Adelaide based charity that has raised over $10 million for charities around Australia that support children with cancer and serious illness. The Foundation was formed in 1996 by former AFL players Tony McGuinness and Chris McDermott, former Glenelg team-mates of Stephen Kernahan.

Is this the 20,000th version of this game?

Bought mine on Friday Night.

Judd = Mayfair
Fevola = Park Lane

Cameron Cloke = Old Kent Road, but after today should be at least Trafalgar Square.
