Did anyone read the Age yesterday. A trainline is going to be built to Carlton. Lets ensure that the changes at Carlton allow for the ground to be rebuilt into a Docklands style venue when the trainline is ready. I suggest the board needs to be more careful with the proposed redevelopment. If there is ever to be a 3rd stadium in Melbourne, lets make sure its ours.

Little something called residents that will ensure a third stadium next exists as Carlton. Why would we need a third stadium anyway?

Nah, just accept that Princes Park is our training/admin base.
We should now be working towards making the 'G' our sole home game venue.

Won't the Olympic Park rebuild be the "third" stadium anyway? Sure, not suitable for AFL, but suitable for plenty of other sports.

I would love that trainline from Caulfienld to Footscray - passing by Prines Park - to be built.

However because of political reaons, it is likely that this will not happen.

That trainline does not make sense to me - It basically duplicates other train lines - I think that they want to build the train tunnel and decomission the above ground rail lines and sell of the prime real estate that runs through parkville, carlton, sth yarra, toorak, armadale and malvern. to private and commercial developers

Not much chance of that happening.
Vic Govt's hate railways.
No new railway lines built in Melb. in the last 70 years and pop. has tripled.
There was a railway station at North Carlton on the old inner circle line (stopped carrying passengers in the late 1940's.)
Used as a goods line until early 1980's.
Re-redevelopment,
resident's action groups would prevent it and car parking is the major problem.

Would be much better to redevelop the Richmond footy ground.
Trains at Jolimont and Richmond stations, trams,( and car parking if needed) is available and it's closer to the city.

Kah ching! All developments have an underlying costing...infrstructure to support quality of lige dosen't exist anymore...must make $$ in realestate, new rates, allow for more transport $$ etc etc...this one meets quite a few

Truth be told PP served as one of Melbourne's premier stadiums for nearly a whole century - although they can be pests the residents didn't exactly scuttle that, PP shutting down was our doing...

I can see Togo vs Iran being played at PP in the 2018 World Cup...

Just one more thing ... for those that supported TD move and COLLO.

Quote:
Swann said Carlton received a Telstra Dome match return from its round-eight clash against Brisbane in front of 38,675 of just $26,700. "That's a long way short of Collingwood's guaranteed $200,000 whenever they play at Telstra Dome," Swann said.

Disgraceful and the "fact" that Sir Richard cannot get us out of this deal makes me see RED.

As an AFL venue, PRINCES PARK IS DEAD.

Get used to it.

Just one more thing ... so much for having one of the best deals going around ... hey Collo.

That's it from me, I'm in a nice place at the moment and don't want to go anywhere else.

Would have been glad to tie us to a 30k seat white elephant that guarantees a financial loss after every game then?
