I think it said "On to Victory- Cripes You Galahs Couldn't Beat Carlton In A Month Of Sundays. Whatever happened to all those banners that the cheer squads had? |

I actually worked on the "Cripes you Galahs banner". The onto Victory section was part of an earlier banner which IIRC was merged with CARLTON A GO GO.( circa the summer of1966/67 and not to be confused with one that i produced at the same time, CARLTON AU GO GO. The latter reflected a lack of communication. Countless hours were spent puting these up and more importantly battling for key positioning for T.V exposure. Unfortunately the VFL in their quest for money banned them as they chased fence sponsorship. I guess they just became a home for the mice down in the bowels of the Heatley Stand. Banners were a real pride things for cheers squads back in the 60's and great fanfare took place at their unfurling. The Cripes you Galahs banner and the Princes Park Colosseum of our Carlton Champions etc etc were the finest Carlton examples. |

"Cripes you galahs couldn't beat Carlton in a month of Sundays, Our bonzer blues will do you mob like a dinner and we're fair dinkum, sport!" It was made pre-season 72 and unveiled in a practice match against Richmond in March. The one in the pocket that is very hard to see says "Ye Olde Blues Forever" in old writing. |

Did you work on the banners? What about the huge BIG NICK one for 1972 GF that was great. Nah my dad did. All the info is from him. Yeah the "NICK POWER" banner had two fists on either side of the banner and was unveiled in the drawn Semi-Final against Richmond in 1972. Also was a Snoopy, Charlie Brown and Lucy banner in Carlton jumpers with the words "Happiness Is Cheering For Carlton" A good story from the 1972 Grand Final is that Richmond played all their finals at the MCG so their cheer squad kept the banners up throughout the week. When the Carlton cheer squad put their banners up the Friday before the Grand Final... someone edited one of Richmond's banners,Putting a P before Rick McLean's name. It was noticed before the game so they had to pull that banner down at least ![]() |

rhys87 That's a great story about Rick McLean. Did all the banners end up under the Heatley Stand? |
