Given we're getting beaten so soundly on the spread at the moment, I reckon Jones and Weitering deserve particular credit for how they're performing as our 2 key backs. There's a fair bit of unpressured ball coming into our forward line at the moment.

It'll be interesting to see who our small forwards turn out to be.

Cuningham has been the most impressive by far.
Pickett probably has the greatest potential upside.
None of Polson, Gibbons or Fasolo have shown much in the opening 3 rounds. I suspect that we'll persist with Polson for longer out of these 3, because he's youngest, got some zip, and has shown a capacity to work hard on his fitness and following directions.
I thought Murphy looked pretty good in that role yesterday, when we actually managed to get the ball forward.
And Ed obviously had a standout game.

I suspect until we can trade/draft in some real talent for this role, our best bet is out of our midfielders: like Murphy, Fisher and Dow. The problem is we're a little short of midfield numbers right now, so it's harder to give them much time forward.

I'd love Fisher to get some more time forward, and perhaps Ed to spend more time in midfield. Fisher has struggled a little so far in midfield this year. And we could use his clean hands, zip and skilful ball use.

I'd be rotating Fisher and Gibbons through HF and mid

I'd like to see Garlett up front.
Small forwards need some X factor like Eddie. Obviously they need to be able to capitalise on it.
Pickett has it, Garlett has it, Fisher has some of it but might be a bit small, Daisy had it but probably not now.

I would try Garlett there for a few weeks. i don't think he is the answer at HB and I suspect he is a stop gap until others are fit.
Bolts mentioned him the other day in a positive sense.

He couldn't be any less effective than Gibbons or Fasolo on current form.

So few players who CONSISTENTLY deliver the goods.

Would feel a lot better if we had our own Tipungwoti. He gives a gazillion per cent every game.
I do like Cunners though, having said that.
Haven't seen enough of Pickett yet.
Garlett - perhaps BS is right and he will be good up forward, but so far haven't seen one game where I've thought 'wow!'
I still think Gibbo could come good given time. Problem being we may not have that luxury.
Fasolo? Who knows!!
Polson...better last game..again time perhaps against him?

It looks like he's got Charlie at FF to me.
Besides, I think you'll find it's one of Danny's poems. Not his preferred team.

Its the side I would have picked given who was available last weekend, luckily the club doesn't listen to me whatsoever - bit like BV and my poems actually.

This is getting difficult......

Yesterdays team:

Thomas Jones Plowman
Simo Weitering SPS
Walsh Cripps OBrien
Gibbons Casboult Lang
Silvani Kennedy Harry

Murphy E.Curnow Phillips

Settlefield Deluca Dow Newman

Kruze, Charlie, Gov, Doc, Fish, Marchbank are all best 22 so who comes out? Is Cunningham best 22?

Fish in. Deluca out.
Kruze in. Flip out.
Doc in. Plowman out.
Charlie in. Lang out.

I can’t see how to get Marchbank and Gov in the team. Unless Marchy comes in for Plowman and Doc comes in for Dow but that’s a stretch to say Doc will play a different role/position. Technically possible though.

Next year:

Thomas Jones Marchbank
Simo Weitering SPS
Walsh Cripps OBrien
Gibbons Casboult C.Curnow
Silvani Kennedy Harry

Murphy E.Curnow Kruze

Settlefield Fish Doc Newman

I fail to understand how Docherty is in anyone's best 22 in 2020.

Best 22s are based on the presumption all are fit and available and in their most recent form - in Doc's case that may be 2 years old but it is AA form. If someone has been out long term you can adjust that for age and chronic injury but neither factor into the Doc equation. He IS best 22.

So by your standards after a full preseason next year people like All Australian Capitain Rance and Brownlow medalist Mitchell won’t get a game in 2020 with Richmond and Hawthorn because they won’t be in their team’s best 22 in 2020.

I doubt Simmo and Thomas will be best 22 next year.

Levi is the wild card

Kreuzer vs Philips after another preseason
Ruck Rover vs Tap Ruckman.
Tractor vs Kanga
Interestingin 2020.

Prefer to add Grundy
