Bennell  left field.

If he's over the calf issue and a free hit....I'm all for it.
Come on down to Eddieland.

Can't wait for Dow and Stocker to start peaking ... they are the real deal.

Fisher will want to do everything he can to improve on 2019... needs to get stronger to keep his feet and stop being ragdolled.
next he needs to know when to hold the ball with his tricks and when its time to find the next target.
He's shown plenty of what he's got over the last 3 years.

Have a feeling there will be a spot for Plowman and we play a 7 man defence.
I feel SPS needs to improve his run and carry to break lines like Andrew McLeod.
Both have great hands and silky skills. SPS did well at HB in 2019.

No love for Newman it seems - he was pretty awesome for us in his first year and will get better as will Gibbons.

Still plenty to play out.

I'm a fan of Newman and a few others who may not play every week.

But most of the list will get games through injuries and form to others. They always do.

Newman is first XVIII material every day of the week (except Friday, we don't deserve that)

He proved to be in 2019.

He was a match winner in one game and kicked 3 from HBF in another.

We had Docherty out, Williamson too, and they were auto selections in 2017 till injured.

I'm expecting them to challenge Newman as will Newnes if comes on board.
I don't believe Bennel will come on board but if he does and he's over the calf problem, he too could challenge for that spot.

I've got Newman on the bench, believing he will start on a man and Simmo will play loose man in defence from a wing, pushing a mid to the Interchange for rotations.

Fully fit we look to have some serious firepower for 2020 after one more strong Preseason for all our Under 22's, as well as the 4th year players.

Levi. I really don't like leaving out Levi our best swingman.

Yeaah, my point is that he's on yours but not mine.
He deserves more recognition and imo is the best contested mark in our team forward, back or in the ruck around the ground.

Well, for anal retentive reasons I wanted to put our no. 1 swingman on the bench.

Not just your opinion.

He’s the best contested mark in the competition.

If he could kick like Matthew Lloyd he’d be the highest paid player in the competition.

I'm all for it. I just didn't ....have the guts to do it....maybe I'm getting conservative as I get older.

I think we've got a core group of 13-15 guys that need to play every game, if we're to be a factor come September.

That leaves 7-9 open positions. All of them are smalls, or midfield relief.

B: Plowman - Jones - Newman
HB: Docherty - Weitering - Samo
C: Setterfield - Cripps - Martin
HF: J. Silvagni - McKay - Murphy
F: Betts - C. Curnow - McGovern
R: Kreuzer - Walsh - E. Curnow

INT: Casboult - Simpson - Kennedy - Stocker

Our best side is going to trouble every team in the comp - maybe even donkey lick a few.
The problem we continue to have is that behind this 22 (21 if Martin doesn't land), we have only 10 capable reserves - half of which would be considered useful. It's a precarious position and may prove costly once winter sets in and the preseason gains have worn off.

With Jack Newnes now a confirmed Blueboy how does he figure into calculations. In my view experienced, elite endurance and good kick menas he is in the 22 for sure. Other views?

You just have to look at what he DID do in 2019, not at being dropped.
Coaches, and in this case, I hope, Richardson made a bad call.

For me a Left field pick in that it was unexpected.
Great choice because he's better than at least 20 of the 44 based on the strengths you mention alone.

He's seasoned and about to hit his prime.
Same size as Newman, but quicker for longer.
Both can kick goals. Great to have them both, courtesy Saints :gift: and Swans :gift: .

Its better to pick a best 20 with your core highlighted and see how many you highlight over the year, notwithstanding injury.

I just love seeing the name Stocker.

Listing our best 22 is getting more difficult. A good sign!

I'd grab a quicker-for-longer Newman any day of the week.

Every year in the off season it is almost impossible to fit all the players into the best 22 . So many gun players to choose from.
Come round 5 to 6 you are hard pressed picking 22.

Let's hope that this trend stops this season
