We still have Phillips? Or are we assuming he'll never get on the park?
He looked alright this year when he did play

Go Blues

I agree.

He did look good when he did play.

Same as last year. His preseason form was really strong.
He was running, kicking really well and had a real spring in his leap.

IMO, apart from staying on the park, he seems to need more upper body strength to compete with the big ruckmen.

Kreuzer is a seasoned strong bodied ruckman.
He's changed his body shape at Carlton, but that took time.

Hmmm ... don't see Cuningham, O'Brien, Lang being best 22 - certainly can't see Ed Curnow not in there. No Byrne ? Are we assuming he won't return/ For me a lock if back and fit. Last spot is a bit of a toss-up but I am troubled by McKay being the only ruck backup to Kreuzer . No offence but Krooz hasn't exactly been durable of late and whilst I don't mind Harry in brief bursts to give him a rest I shudder to think of Harry rucking almost all day with no real chop-out if Krooz gets injured early in a match. Could do him some real physical damage. But with none of Krooz, Phillips or Lobbe being much of a forward I can't see us playing 2 of those 3, so I'd be looking at one of Casboult, Jones or Rowe for that last spot, TDK being another not yet ready to toss into the ruck at AFL level except for the briefest cameo. Settling on one I'd go Jones as he has more toe and more versatility than the other two.

As for Kouta's suggestion I agree Thomas and Silvagni must be thereabouts but they miss out n my 22:

B. Simpson Weitering Plowman
HB. Williamson Marchbank Docherty
C. Fisher Kennedy Walsh
HF. SPS McKay Murphy
F. Fasolo Curnow McGovern

R. Kreuzer Cripps Dow

I. Byrne Curnow Jones Setterfield

Decent side and talented - you bet.
However we will get smashed by bigger bodied teams like this year, if we put that side out there each week. It’s going to be tough year.......

Aren't you guys being a bit presumptuous? Who said we're getting Walsh? Won't know possibly till the first name is called out by us..... or GCS....... or Adelaide...... or PA....

Every year players like Simon White and Rowe and others are excluded from the best 22 because they're not fashionable. I think not only will Rowe be retained but he'll play 15 odd games to taken on the giants in the comp.

B: Doc, Rowe, Weitering
HB: Jones*, Marchbank, Simpson
C: OB, Cripps, Top Pick from 2018
HF: Fas, CHarlie, Mitch
F: Pickett, McK, Polson

R: K, Dow, Murphy

Int: SPS, Kennedy, Plow, Second - back up ruck (Cas or Lobbe or someone new)

Emer: JSOS, Lamb (1yr),

If ever anyone doubted SOS loyalty, picking up Fas kills JSOS as a HF

Besides being 'unfashionable', Rowe can't keep his feet, gets rag-dolled by the big forwards and is a terrible kick.

Which part do you disagree with and why?
How many games do you see this particular named side winning?

Just pissed off with the continuing negativity from a selection of posters on this site, irrespective of the gains the club appear to be making and how promising next year is looking.

I disagree with "smashed". It is going to be a tough year, but a good one.

My best 22 with the number of games played at CFC this year after each name. I think that this gives a pretty good idea of the upside, esp the half back line. I agree with the poster above re Jones - can take on role down back or 2nd ruck. I have put a couple of alternatives players in. Overall I think that this is a pretty good core 26 player group. Assuming Byrne stays in Ireland.

Plowman 13 Weitering 14 simpson 21

Docherty 0 Marchbank 12 Williamson 0

Fisher 17 Kennedy 12 Murphy 13

McGovern 0 C Curnow 20 SPS 22

Pickett 7 Mckay 13 Fasolo 0

Kreuzer 12 Curnow 21
Cripps 22 Walsh 0 /O'Brien 18
Dow 20 Jones(2nd ruck/back option) / Lang 17/11
Setterfield 0

emerg
Lang/Jones Thomas 20 Cunningham 5

McGovern, Setterfield and Walsh didn't play a single game for us this year.

Yes, obviously not...I just wanted to show the upside for the group as a whole.

List balance looks far better if Kennedy, Cripps and Setterfield can get their hands dirty to win the hard ball and feed it out to Dow, Walsh and Fisher.
