Best 22s are based on the presumption all are fit and available and in their most recent form - in Doc's case that may be 2 years old but it is AA form. If someone has been out long term you can adjust that for age and chronic injury but neither factor into the Doc equation. He IS best 22.

Makes sense to me
Obviously you can choose to see it as Doc does.
If fit Doc is in. He was a standout in the preseason before he did his knee again.

Maybe Doc sees his form as a vulnerable knee and doesn't want to back him.
You'd have to back Doc to return fit and firing, but hope there is a ready replacement incase his knee goes again: Stocker

No - they'd have to do their knee again and miss two full years of footy.

So many docs. So confused.

Hopefully it will be two Docs, one (premiership) cup.

...so we do have 2 Docs, and number 17 on its way soon for both of them to enjoy.

Is that the same Plowman who finished third in the B&F on the bench?

I'll give you mine after the pre-season. No guarantee C Curnow will be available. We are grading people in and out. No guarantee of Papley.

if the likes of Kennedy or Silvagni want a game, they need to play solely as big bodied midfielders. Gibbons may be swapped with Fisher depending on form and Casboult is the most interesting one of the lot - without him, who plays the pinch-hit 2nd ruck role?

Walsh will play more than 90% game time...especially after another full preseason under Andrew Russell.

I have a feeling with a fit list most of our 20-22yo's will be depth getting stronger, fitter and learning their craft in the VFL most weeks.

Can see return of Docherty, Jones, Marchbank and Charlie returning and step straight into the team. Williamson may find his 2017 form and push out Newman.

The big bodied mids giving a chop out for Cripps to create a mismatch forward will be Jack Silvagni and Setterfield. We should have 10-11 rotating through the midfield in 2020.

I can see Betts, Martin and Papley in the first 22 from round 1 20-20 Toot-Toot.

And that, my friends is called counting your chickens before they hatch and why this is such a pointless exercise at this time of year.
Fun but pointless.

You're no fun.

The point is to have fun.

Gap analysis
Situational analysis
Best case scenario

So Papley wasn't released on compassionate grounds by Swans: no big deal.
And Pittonet will not be rucking ahead of Kreuzer come round 1, unless he's injured and rucking better than Levi, but that's counting your chickens before their hatched

This will change with the addition of Martin...nah...I'm going to include him coz he's coming.
Not sure if a Newnes or a Holman or a Pick 9 in the draft will make the Best 22 if everyone is fit and available.

B: Docherty Jones Marchbank
HB: Plowman Weitering Simpson

C: SPS Cripps Murphy
R: Kreuzer Curnow Walsh

HF: Martin Charlie Cuningham
F: Betts McKay McGovern

IC: Setterfield Gibbons J.Silvagni Newman

Newman will probably take a man at HB and Simpson will be the extra in the backline.
Williamson will take a HBF if he's fully fit.

Midfield Rotations:

Ruck: Kreuzer - McKay
Big bodied: Cripps Silvagni Setterfield ... Cripps cameo mismatch forward ditto Silvagni
Mid size: Walsh SPS Cuningham Martin
Small mid: Murphy Gibbons
Possibly: Simpson Betts

Leaves the kids to develop in the VFL and called on if form warrants:

Kids 21-22yo : Fisher Dow OBrien Stocker Williamson Macreadie

Mature Depth: Casboult Kennedy Lang DeLuca Pettenet DeLuca Polson

Developing: Pick 9, TDK B.Silvagni Cottrell Owies

Levi. I really don't like leaving out Levi our best swingman.
