Go back and watch his game last week and tell me what top 8 side he'd be getting a game in? I hope for his sake he is injured because his attack on the ball is milder than an under 12 AFLW standard.

Pretty much all of them I would suggest. So too Plowman. Uninjured, they are both walk up starts in our back line now and for years to come.

It's pretty hard to defend when there is lack of defensive pressure from the entire team and the balls are coming in so repeatedly.

I would argue Rance (who people see as the CHB or FB yardstick) could not defend much better than these two guys in our back line, as the team currently stands.

As a back line 'team' they will be very good once the entire team gets its act together.

Marchbank has deficiencies but courage isn't one of them. He and Simmo back into packs as much as anyone without regard for their safety.

Polson gets nowhere near our best 22. He’s only playing because we’ve got half our best team out through injury. Next year there will be another 3-4 ahead of him through draft and trade. He’s going to have to improve fast to last more than another year

Have a look at Marchbank last year when he was fit and in top form.

He hasnt had a good run at t this year.

point is hes still young...and has the tools for the trade....and hes fearless

Don't worry about last year, have a look at his 1st game back a few weeks ago. Absolutely dominated, and while being trialled in a midfield role.
Quality, just needs to keep improving his foot skills.

Okay fine, to get another deal then. Point is he’s nowhere near best 22.

Interesting what Bolton had to say about our future spine.

http://www.carltonfc.com.au/video/2018- ... t-revealed

Marchbank, Weitering, De Koning, Charlie, Harry.

I assume that means we're expecting De Koning to develop into a 1st ruckman rather than a 2nd ruckman?

That was my take away. He's been pretty impressive for a first year player who was coming off an injury interrupted year last year. Good attack on the footy, game awareness, touch, mobility and desire to be involved. It's a pretty good starting point and I'm looking forward to seeing how he goes after another 2-3 more pre-seasons. If he becomes the 70-80% game time ruck with Harry relieving that would be great.

Harry is the player that will take the game by storm in a couple of years time. Mark my words.

Classic stuff Doc.

Good chance Harry will be the next Tom Lynch..or first Harry McKay.

Reckon he might get a game for GWS Collingwood ATM Smithy so calm

He will be a fine young player and played well last year

no continuity in our backline this year and playing without a cohesive defensive unit

Playing with guys like Rowe etc which give young players confidence

No doubt in our best 22 Marchbank

It's funny those young guys we drafted most give them some leniency because they are learning the caper but those GWS boys Marchbank Plow and Kennedy are generally as young but don't get nearly as much leniency

Pick 1 Walsh
First pick next year for Shiel plus some pick swaps.
PP best available.

Simpson Jones Plowman
Marchbank Weitering Docherty
LOB Cripps Byrne
Fisher Charlie Walsh
SPS McKay Murphy
Kreuzer Shiel Dow
From Williamson Cunners Pickett TDK
Lang Kennedy Edward Macreadie Kerr

Doesn't include the PP or our second rounders.
I would still target Dahlhaus.

Assuming we get everyone we've been heavily linked to to (excluding Gaff, which I'm treating as a pipe dream).

Safe to say it becomes a more difficult exercise, and you can't tell me there isn't an absolute buttload of potential here for something great if this team can stay and grow together (and our fitness and development shit gets sorted). Just need some more speed on the outside and in the forward line.

Gotta be pretty close there. It puts a lot on Kreuzer's shoulders and I wouldn't want to be rucking McKay (let alone whoever the back-up to him may be) too much.

I'd probably have Pickett in for LO'B or perhaps Kennedy. He brings the extreme pace the forward line needs. I like Murphy n the forward line but he has not reacted well to that positioning in the past - hopefully now he is prepared to play a role that I think suits him and the team.

For some teams we might need another tall - TDK, Macreadie, Jones or Rowe -but most sides are moving away from too many tall key position players so this line-up will usually suffice.

We still have Phillips? Or are we assuming he'll never get on the park?
He looked alright this year when he did play
