OK, Ive waited long enough for someone to bring this up, but its almost a criminal act on this website to bring up anything about Judd which isnt positive. I love the bloke, his disposal is all class, but I think he shouldnt be playing, he looks very very sore, he is slower than he has been in the last few weeks, he cant lay a tackle, and his kicks for goal today showed that he is struggling. Is there anyone here connected to the club who may know the real status of Judds groin? Is he playing with the groin injury which hampered him last year? To me it looks like he is, and the last couple of weeks its been showing more than when he started for us. If hes not fit he should be rested, remember how West Coast played him all of last year with injury, it did him a lot of harm. I just think he shouldnt be forced to play if hes carrying an injury, he is a massive investment and Id rather he be rested for a few matches cause realistically IMO we wont make the 8 as we havent been very convincing in our wins, which have been against the bottom 3 (apart from Collingwood where we were convincing), so I dont see a point in making him play with injury and potentially harming him for the long term. |

I don't think he is 'injured'. I would hope the club isn't dumb enough to make him play with soreness. I do however think he might just be a little tight, he didn't have any preseason so it might just be catching up with him a bit. I think he could do with a week off. Maybe he could be rested against the cats this week since he probly won't make a difference anyway. Don't expect to see him at his best till next year anyway. |

He isn't the 'explosive" Chris Judd but his work at stoppages is brilliant. He currently wins the contested ball that no one else in our team seems to get and releases Murphy and co. to play with lesser tags. As long as his injury isn't being further compromised, why wouldnt you play him every week? Even at 80%, he's still a gun. |

he wins the most contested posessions in every game of every player on the ground week in week out... pretty amazing for an 'outside player'. he won 13 contested posessions of a total of 19... next best was bentick with 10 contested posessions.... yeah he isn't explosive yet because he is not getting the shepherds and support as he did at west coast.. but he does alot of them little team things. |

Watching him pull up after runs yesterday, would indicate his adductors are still giving him trouble. Would rather he miss a week or so to let them settle down rather than have Chris sustain a more serious injury. |

From another thread... mikkey wrote: Quote: - Judd still only appears to be 85% fit and doesn't seem to be improving.....over 7 months after his operation. When do people understand that players (even Judd) who have a limited preseason (and Judd did not start real training before Jan) will not play up t their best during that season. Plus Judd has not really fully recovered (eg. kicking is limited). We will not see Judd's best before next season. Jason Akermanis had a similar surgery after the 2006 season. He's said he struggled to kick with distance last season, but it has returned this year and his form is back as well. It takes 12 months to fully recover. It speaks volumes for Judd's ability that he is able to play as well as he is. blue4 wrote: yeah he isn't explosive yet because he is not getting the shepherds and support as he did at west coast.. but he does alot of them little team things.
This is another good point. Hadley has been the man most successful at providing the support to Judd and Judd's best games have been with Hadley. |

I think from memory Akermanis said there is not much risk of further injury by playing every week. It's more that you don't have full flexibility and use of the groin until a year after the surgery. We need him in the team. He may not be absolutley dominating individually, but he is playing well and making a great contribution to the team. I honestly think his influence on the younger guys is priceless, without him we could have dropped our bundle and got smashed on a couple of occassions. JUDD ![]() |

For a guy who is seen running around Princes Park the day after a game, it would be safe to assume that he is on track to getting better and will realise his full potential soon. No one is pushing CJ to do anything that would endanger his career and longevity at Carlton. |

Judd is carrying abit of an ankle as welll He is permanently grimmacing because he leaves everything he has on the field whilst he is out there. Which is a change compared to blokes we have had out there in the past.... we would have been at the bottom without him.. and with senior players we have had in the recent past in his place.. |

What, even at the 12 min mark of the first?!!? ![]() He's still a champ, but he still hasn't reached his zenith yet |

Absolutely spot on. No way in the world he would have played if he needed the rest because of injury. No preseason stuffs up every single player that doesn't have one. Its a known fact. A 3/4 fit Judd is still in the best 3 players at the club. He'll be looking forward to the mid season break more than anyone at the club. Just to freshen up without 4 blokes constantly hanging off him. |

Well yesterday has been the only time I have seen Judd miss set shots at our club, like that. Can't wait for next season for a variety of reasons now!!! |

Mate have a look at some highlight videos of Judd's career. This is just an idiocyncracy of Juddy. He does it constantly whenever he's puffing a bit. Look nothing into that at all because he's done every game of his career |

Some weeks he is sorer than others it seems. some weeks he has the occasional burst through the middle and kicks a 60m goal, other days he can't kick 40. |
