It sounds like O'hAilpin gave us a lot of run off the backline. I must confess that I dont agree with Ratts -- he's a backman.

From what I saw on tv - had a great game in defence - a definite pro!

Pro's:
"Clone Troopers" in the first half
Backline in general
Keeping Pavlich to under ten goals
Not seeing Peter Bell celebrating a goal as though he has just won the flag.
The Wizard being shown as the over rated diver that he is (Adam Goodes, you were wrong)...
Eddie Betts, brilliant at playing starvation corner...
Bentick
Stevens playing a defensive type role well
Ratten, thought he coached particularly well (released Stevens in the last quarter when needed, kept his cool when under pressure in the second half, didn't drop a spare man in front of Pavlich etc)...
Even though they got killed in the hit outs, Kreuzer and Hampson much better around the ground than certain other players...

Cons:
Kicking for goal
Kicking to two on ones in the forward fifty

Pro's:

Bentick
Bower
ohailpin
Clerances
Pfiefer goal
Betts

Cons:

Forwrd setup sucked
fev down
Inaccuracy
And the crowd was nothing short of piss poor..........loud noisy ecstatic in the last quarter i was there.........but 28,900 is a shocking tournout....only game in melb today and with some 40,000 members i would have thought 35,000 would have been the minimum.

Pros
- we won at the dome with Fev kicking only one goal
- all the kids showing good signs at various stages, in particular Grigg and Gibbs
- the run and linking out of defence and through the midfield

Cons
- our disfunctional forward line and the associated delivery from the midfield.
- a lack of polish/class in front of goal an ongoing problem with a few of our players
- Judd still only appears to be 85% fit and doesn't seem to be improving.....nearly 8 months after his operation. Over the last 6 weeks there doesn't appear to have been a lot of improvement/progress.
- it looks like Waite will probably cop time for high contact on a Freo player in the last qtr

ProCon - or ConPro - depending on your nature:
With an extremely dysfunctional forward line , we started investigating ways to not be Fev-centric. I think we took that a little too far, (repeatedly kicking to the 3 ft heart of the team when he was double teamed) but everyone who has complained about it up till now can take heart that the support players in the forward line stepped up today....

Fish played his best of the season in my eyes....
And once JR gets his kicking for goal right... he'll be a perfect support player to reinforce a strong team....

It's becoming clear where we are at as a side. Can beat the bottom 4 teams but struggle with those above. 9-12ish side and improving. Showed good resolve today with a poorly functioning forward line.

BTW - give the guys celebrating at the game some time to get home before you start the pros and cons!!! :-D Damn interstaters :-D

PROS

1. Waite - he's a backman people. I'm telling you.

2. Stevo - Embarrassed Bell. Clever move ratts

3. Backline developing - no Thorn or Jamo, but Bower, Waite, even Setanta did well. Grigg shows a bit.

4. The number 1 picks - Kreuzer and Murph are freaks, Gibbs responded well to criticism from last week

5. Bentick - I don't rate him so I apologise. I was wrong today. The difference was that instead of being at the bottom of the pack giving it back to the umpire, he handballed to a teammate. Good clearances.

CONS

1. Forward line! - Geez we strugle up forward. we get forced wide and are predictable. Our biggest problem going forward no doubt. Backline and middle are good.

2. Fev - had a shocker. couldn't kick, fell over - BUT the chase and tackle at the end of a shit day was inspirational.

3. Hugging the fence - makes it very difficult for us to score goals. Freo were accurate because all their shots were straight in front.

4. Ball usage could still improve

5. Watching replay as we speak - waite could get suspended

Special mention for Eddie and Pfeiffer who had great last quarters

We're a better team and the young guys are all improving, but we've got a long long way to go. The mission is to find another key forward

PRO : theres a wanky gay show here in WA called the western front that focuses on the dockers and eagles - it is on now and was clearly taped prior to the game

they opened with a few lines about the dockers then moved onto the eagles and said hopefully they can get their second win tonight as well

implying the dockers had won

HAHAHAHAHAH

sucked in

Pros:

I'm rapt with that win.

- We won a game coming from behind.
- We won a game we should of won.
- We won a game we didn't play at our best in.
- We won a game at Telstra Dome

- Grigg continues to impress.
- Carlos did well until injured, then Pavlich got on top of him.
- Bentick probably played his best game since the Collingwood game a few years back.
- Tackling was probably at a season high with Gibbs and Rusty leading the way.
- Stevo flogged Bell.
- Waite was good in the last, disposal still a problem.
- Gibbs and Fev made two crucial plays in the last 10 mintues to turn the game.

Cons:

- We didn't punish Fremantle when we had the chance and nearly lost because of it.
- We need a target across the half foward to straighten up our forward entries.
- Bower probably was beaten today, but won the last quarter on Tarrant.
- Foot skills were bad again.
- Goal kicking is shocking, mainly due to the wide F50 entries.
- Injury toll. Carlos will be sore, Fev is sore, Judd looks sore.
