Welcome to a big Round 8 of Wolfister's Weekly one cent stats. Last week the stats read pretty well... and we saw what happened. So let's hope this week the stats aren't flash! Round 8 is a big milestone in the season, as from here on in, every team plays each other once. So what does that mean for the weekly stats? Nothing. So I'll get on with it.

We have beaten the Cats 114 of the 203 times we've met (56.2%) at PM+1546. We've won only 2 of our last 5 encounters (PM+23) and 4 of our last 10 (PM-3). This will be the 4th time we've met at the Docklands (the 4th time out of 5 meetings), losing all 3 of our previous encounters - and each time the damage has grown - 4 points (after the siren when Wiggins touched it!), 40 points and 57 points. This will be the first time we've met under lights at the dome though, and only the second time that the two sides have met under lights on a Friday night for premiership points. The previous clash was the Grand Final rematch in 1996, where we lost by 12 points.

In keeping with the disappointing stats, Round 8 is only our 19th most successful round, winning 63 of our 108 starts (58.3%) at PM+712. We've won 3 of our last 5 Round 8 games (last year was the 3rd quarter loss to the Lions at the Gabba) at PM+79, and only 4 of the last 10 (PM-27). We've played Geelong 10 times in Round 8, winning 8 of these starts at PM+140. The last time we met them in Round 8 though, was that Friday night clash back in 1996. This will be our 5th Round 8 Friday night game, having won only 1 of our past 4 - the very first one, against Richmond in 1994 (more about that one later!.)

Our May 13 record isn't too bad, winning 13 of our previous 18 clashes (72.2%) at PM+217 - making May 13 our 48th most successful day on record. We've played Geelong twice on May 13 - a 37 point loss in 1933, and a 40 point win in 2000. The 13th of the month is our 4th most successful day on record, winning 52 of our 75 starts (69.3%) at PM+973 - while in matches played on Friday the 13th (yes, all of us here at the big blue office at the bottom end of town are very superstitious)... we are undefeated, beating Richmond in 1994 by 28 points! I remember that game well, as I took two female friends who had never been to a game before to that game, and it took them the whole of the 1st quarter to understand why they stopped and kicked it after taking a mark! So if we add to that the stat that we are undefeated in Friday night games this year, and have in fact won our last 4 (by 2 goals and under), and we're actually undefeated in night games this year too, then maybe.... just maybe.... but, probably not... but maybe...?

Till next week, remember that 92% of budget puns involve talk of constipation...

Wolf out.
