Post subject:  A Void

Could this Hall of Fame game come at a worse time than after winning at Subi?

I really feel an empty void because there is no game on this week for us to continue our winning momentum.

I'm trolling all over TC looking for snippets here and there on my beloved boys and coming up with scraps. Carlton vs Brisbane thread should about 16 pages long now.

We should be bitching and moaning about who is in and who is out.

P(12)terg will be gearing up to post the game discussion thread tomorrow night about an hour before the bounce and TCers from Mexico to Charleston from China to Dubai will be gearing up to log on and follow the game as best as they can.

BlueMelanie is supposed to inspire us with her Friday afternoon analysis of the game as only she can.

I hate feeling like this.

Anyone else feeling the emptiness?

I was thinking about this last night.

Is it worse to have a break after a loss and have two weeks to stew over it or after a win and break the momentum?

I too was thinking about this this morning, this is what it feels like to be someone who doesn't care about football, you flick through the sports section not really caring, the sports report on the news about the hall of fame game doesn't spark my interest and you tend to get sick of hearing about it all the time.

We better win next week, I don't want to wait this long for a loss.

I actually reckon that the break has come at a good time. The last four rounds have provided three wins and the spirit at the Club is reportedly excellent. The break has given our coaches a chance to go back to the drawing board slightly, and just fine-tune a few things. Reading through the training report yesterday it seems to me that we are now working on some different aspects which may have needed sharpening.

Meanwhile the lads get a few extra days to enjoy the confidence that the wins have provided. They won't forget over a two week break what they need to do to win.

Brisbane will be very stern opposition - they pushed both Hawthorn and Geelong. But I don't think this weekend's break will do our players any harm whatsoever.

The fans on the other hand

the closer we get to the bullsh!t hall of fame game the more i despise it. i want to see my blues this week not a pretend game. we needed to keep the momentum going. this week is a negative from a Carlton viewpoint

i think the break has come at the right time, the win against the eagles was superb but games before that we looked a little tired. Hopefully this will freshen is up for an assault into the eight.

Any break after a trip to Perth is good. We have a brilliant draw this year.

No void though.

Another week for Hadley, Thornton, Walker and Bannister to recover without it costing us a game.

I reckon it's at a good time.

If we lose to Brisbane, it came at a shit time.

Much prefer going into the break after a win rather than hungry for redemption after a loss. Means we get to bask in it longer. Just a shame it wasnt against the filth as I could have fun with it longer.

Will there be a pros & cons thread after the Hall of Fame game?

The mid-season break is almost as bad as the off season for deflating my excitement about footy.

I agree. Here's hoping Jonathon Brown aggravates his injury playing for the Vics..

I know that a weeks break can be a bad thing if it is in the finals as you end up playing the game in your head first.....

Not so sure about this situation though. A good break where they can enjoy the winning feeling for a change, might just build it's own momentum.

For those saying you can't watch your Blues play this weekend, Judd Fevola and Waite are playing inwith the nations eyes watching.

Cheer them on!!

And you can also go support the Bullants on Sunday..

You're right DUC there is a void. I don't need the break but the boys will benefit from the opportunity to freshen up. Must say I have been much more productive at work this week. No need to worry about Dream Team selections and not alot of news on Talking Carlton to distract me.

I think the AFL chose this weekend for the game because of Mothers Day. Alot of teams don't like hosting a game on Mothers Day because crowd numbers are usually down.

..a week off for our injured players is a definate bonus.. ..and for Juddy, Fevalenko and Waite,, the HoF match will be a great honour, boost their confidence and perhaps give them some future insight against the other players..

Reminds me of that weekend before the season starts
Good that we are getting the rest but stopped some of the momentum of first interstate win for years

I think its great timing, coming off the Subi game, a lot of sides struggle after coming back.

I have a good feeling about things at the club at the moment. Its all looking up.
