Post subject:  Fevs Game on Saturday (yes another Fev thread)

Sorry to bring this up, but I would like some opinions on Fevs game on Saturday.

You see, I was unable to go the game and was stuck down the coast with no Foxtel and listening to the ABC - which is what has made me start this thread. David McKay was commentating and if you didn't know better you would have thought Fev was Satans sporn. Comments like "he's not trying", "he's not interested", "I'd put money that he misses" and when a scuffle started "thats the most energy Fev has shown all day".............

Please inform me if Fev was that bad of if McKay is just a bitter old prick. Do we have to put up with people getting stuck into him every time he has a bad game?

he didnt look as sparkling as previous weeks but our delivery did him no favours nor did the umpires - still put in some good chases and contests

Fev's attitude was a disgrace, McKay was spot on. He wasn't trying. He was only looking for a chest mark, anything that requires a contest he'd refused to put in the effort, he just gives up too easily.

This is the 1st time for the last few weeks that he was played against a quality defence. That's why I think from now on every team will double team him.

thanks grro, Swan Mckay and Robert Walls hate Fev, sure I don't like some of his off field and on field 'crimes of the past' but they need to stop sinking the boots it, Mckay was actually nasty and seemed to be enjoying himself.

He capped things off by saying 'rules are rules' with THAT decision

Yes its a radical new tactic. Great year this, 1989.

The wind yesterday was pretty strong and swirling around so for McKay to say he 'will miss this' :garthp:

Fev wasn't at his best yesterday, dropped a few marks that he would of normally taken but he wasn't alone. He should have got a few free kicks but as usual play on when he is involved.

A friend of mine took her son down to training to get his photo with fev on friday. She managed to achieve this but reckons fev was way under the weather. She claimed he looked hungover as all hell. I told her that he has sworn of the grog so he must have had the flu. She said dont expect a big game from him this weekend. Turned out she was right.

I hope this poker addiction doesnt involve late nights.

He wasn't against Collingwood, but he certainly was against Melbourne.

Someone said earlier you can tell early by his body language whether he's going to have a good game or not. I'd say with Fev its the other way around. If things are going well for him then his body language will be good and his chasing will also be good.

He wasn't like he was the past few weeks, but he was still good for most of the game. Adelaide are a smart outfit, have a versatile backline and it takes a good performance to kick a bag on them.

man i wish i was a mod :P

maybe he had the runs all night?

maybe one of his daughters was up sick all night?

maybe his bed is shit and he needs a new one?

you have no idea why he looked or was tired and to try and target and assume a poker addiction as the reason is petty , childish and unwarranted

I think Fev's accentuating of contact trying to milk frees against average teams hurts him. The umpires quickly become conditioned to ignore backmen infringing on him against better defences as their infringments are initially a lot more subtle.

He didn't seem hung over or particularly tired while I watched him as I waited for Lil' Miss Wojee and Lollipops to get his autograph Friday.

While that is true in a sense, players seem to be rewarded for diving with stupid free kicks nowadays & I just think Fev gets tired of the treatment he receives which is why he accentuates contact sometimes. Other times he's just not looked after like other forwards.

To answer kk's question, I definitely think he had an off day & our kicking to him was really poor, back to how it was last year I think. I didn't hear McKay's criticism of him but from what you have described I definitely think it was unwarranted.

He's allowed to have an off day - he certainly wasn't on his own!

He's constantly scragged, has his arms chopped, gets people jumping into him without eyes for the ball etc etc so I definitely agree he's not looked after.

True Sorry.

THe word addiction was a bit hard. He mentioned he loves poker on the telly the other night and that he wont be giving that up as was reported in the paper.

I dont know anyone who plays it during the day. Anyway i went with the flu thing to my friend. It did also cross my mind about his kid being sick.

I was really just pointing out that perhaps his preperation was not that good this week.

I am sure if you ask you could get a Mod gig. It will be a lot easier just deleting posts rather than calling a decent bloke spilling his guts after a hard weekend childish for a slip of the keyboard.

Other than about the last 15 minutes of the match (when he was buggered), fev chased hard all day for very little reward. Adelaide's midfield get back quickly to help their defence and often it would be 5 on 3, 6 on 4 down there. Tough day for a FF when you play Adelaide.

If he had kicked straight when he had the chance that may have sparked him, but it just wasn't his day unfortunately
