Not a bad idea Melvey. Lets trial it.

The update on injuries, as reported by Brett Ratten in the press conference

Bret Thornton - Medial Ligiment strain. He thought Grade 1, Doc Larkins said Grade 2. He coulod be out 4-6 weeks

Adam Hartlett - Hamsting, 2 weeks

Steven Browne - tightness in his hamstring, should be right for next week.

Thornton's done a medial ligament - the same one he did in early 2005 I believe. Out for 4-5 weeks minimum more than likely - scans always will tell us more.

Browney had some work done on his hammy - but then had his ankle strapped as well...will have scans - but ran out the game ok.

Hartletts hammy is a worry. He's hamstrung prone and it must be a constant source of frustration for him...footballers who have as many hamstring injuries as Harts has had at this age - tend not to have long careers. Not sure what his hammys were like as an underage footballer - but brother Hamish could drop in the draft if he's had any thus far.

Should we consider sending Hartlett over to Germany for that freakish treatment Jarrad Rooke from Geelong underwent to overcome his hamstring problems

Good idea Melvey.

I thought of this last night.

I like the pragmaticism.

We have some problems, but we still have the vast majority of our best players available.

Surely this indicates how important keeping all our draft picks this year is. Get as many in as you can because there not much to come in to replace those injured.

Melvey if you are advocating not trading for Kerr, then I think I love you. :-D

That is how we are STILL suffering for those draft penalties. Without those add Goddard, Wells & McLean to our list, suddenly it looks quite different.

We still need to dip into the well a few more times at the draft and sift through some of the crap (Wiggins, Saddo, Ackland et al) on our list.

if you add goddard wells and mclean you probably have to take walker fisher and simpson out who have probably achieved as much if not more than the 3 you mentioned we are missing.

then who knows you may have to also take out murphy gibbs and kruezer as things may have panned out differently

its time to forget about those penalties

Basic point is 3 more quality players who we dont have now. I mean its been done to death, but IMO even if we had a free run at the draft, our side was that bad at the end of 2002, it would of taken until about now to be a premiership threat.

Bottom line is we lack depth (still) and need to dip into the draft a bit more to rectify this.
