Pros:

- The kids will have learnt alot today about disposal and decisions under pressure.
- We didn't get smashes off the park like we would of last year.
- Hartlett is our best option at CHF when fit.

Cons:

- Kicking
- Decision making
- Forward structure after Hartlett went off.

Didn't hear a lot of the match, but here's mine.

Pro:
Ran a good team in Adelaide very close for most of the match even with Fev playing like a pork chop.
More will be learnt from a loss like this against a team like Adelaide than a smashing
Dare I say it, an "honourable win". Almost.

Con:
Fev played like a pork chop.
Poor decision making
Execrable skills cost us goals against when we were up and in control, and ended up costing us the match momentum and probably the match.
Not a whole lot of depth it would appear.

PROS:

- Taking costly turnovers into account, we were in the game upto 3qtr time
- JR had a good game apart from his shots at goal
- Bower improvement. He's going to be a beauty
- Hard physical running and tackling for first 3 qtrs

CONS
- Getting flogged in the ruck & centre clearances, in particular the 2nd half
- The free kick against the Waite punch
- Poor disposal
- Fev sulking and not giving off to team mates in good position
- lack of discipline at times

Just thought of another...

Pro:

Could have been worse, we could have Courtney Johns.

Pros
Jordan Russell making progress
Eddie's brilliance - just wish he could do more of it.
Another game into Jammo, Browney, Gibbsy, Bower, Kruz, Griggs, and Murph
Browney's debut.

Cons
Foot skills errors - still!
Jordan Russell - foot skills - he can kick but - above the shoulders for mine!
Jarrod Waite's brain fade!
Hartlett's hammy - :x
TBird's knee!

When you are young and inexperienced playing a side that is older and better, you have to take your chances and you need things to go your way. Neither of those things happened today, and despite having a good crack, we lost to a better side.

PROS

1. Bower - emerging as a useful defender with good rebound

2. Waite - spoiling has really improved. OK as long as he doesn't have to kick it

3. Betts - I would've written his career of 4 rounds ago. Has stepped up

4. Kreuzer - ground work amazing, although can't buy a hitout

5. Simmo - had a crack

CONS

1. No fev no carlton - if he doesn't kick 5+ we lose.

2. Pfeiffer - I reckon he stuffs up too much - will have a holiday anyway for the head on bump

3. Sideways crap! - We look sideways every time! Ok, I know it's useful to play tempo footy etc. but we never ever try to use some dash and break the game open. It's monotonous and predicatable and we have to find a better balance of when to use it and when n ot to.

4. Injuries - we're gonna have a lot of injuries. Hadley and Banno hurt and Hartlett is injury prone (he was showing a bit). Hartlett should've played ahead of Setanta from 3 weeks ago.

5. Kick outs - Chipping the ball 12 metres sideways from every single kickout is not a plan.

Anyway - we're improving but the kids have a lot to learn, and with a squad as thin as ours inuries bite.

I always thought the crows are a 5 goal better side. We certainly weren't disgraced losing to the crows at all. We played into there hands as they wanted us to take on the game and try run the lines. The first half, we held on to the ball and took it up to them.

Some costly turn overs by some of the younger guys hurt us but they are young and will learn from that.

The Carlton of old would have gone down by 10 goals.

We are ranked 16th in games experience, 300 less games than the 15th placed side.

Our percentage increased to 90.78%

Supplementary CON

1. I want Bryce Gibbs in the midfield rotation. Why is Ratts continuing on with Pagan's crap idea of turning him into a back pocket.

Pros

Browne's composure on debut
Russell! Genuinely excited me, if only he hadn't flowered up all those goalscoring opportunities (imagine what we'd be saying if he'd kicked 3)
Bentick - filled Hadley's shoes brilliantly I thought, best game I have seen him play in a long time (seemed to actually extract, rather than just be continuously tackled after getting first use)

Cons
Not sure whether to list Fev - sulked a bit, but if this is rock bottom is it an improvement?
Hartlett's hammy
Carrazzo's disposal

- Forward structure after Hartlett went off.

It wasn't the forward structure that was the issue. We move the ball very very slowly. It is OK to do that sometimes, but we do it all the time, and it makes our forward entries look laboured.

Our coaches have the players dogmatically looking sideways, even if the time may be right to show some dash and break a line. It's too easy for the players to not run and pick up a cheap kick.

I don't have an issue with the game plan except for the favt that we use it dogmatically - ALL THE TIME. Need more line breakers rather than cheap chip accumulators.

Then our forward setup will look better.

Pro's

Eddie Betts is really maturing into a very good player for us.

Browney shows a ton of promise

Pfeiffer again showed great hardness for a young bloke.

Some of Kroooz's follow up work was sensational.

Captain Juddy again had moments of class.

PB had a great game and like Eddie is maturing into a very good running defender.

In general, our kids are learning and gaining valuable experience with each minute of gametime.

Con's

Nick Stevens. Should play as a forward option only.

Bad Fev today. Tic Toc...

Ray Chamberlains free against Waite. He called it for time wasting apparently. What's the @#$%&! bag of balls behind the goals for you flower Chamberlain. Worst free kick I have ever seen!

Con:

Every single team from now on will double team Fevola. Shut him down and we will lose.

Although Russel made some errors and he not the only one, he actually impressed me today and i like the look of browne dog pitty bout his hammy injury.

Pros
- We didn't lost by that much - I blame the reduced bench size (we were down to 2 men for most of the game)
- We played more of the game than we have in the last 15 games (not counting the Filth win)
- Brownie's debut
- Eddie's whirlwind start
- We are a respectable team again, with twelve of the senior list appearing in every match so far. That, however, will be reduced after this week
- The injury list will at least give some of the other youngsters a go: Armfield tends to be the favourite to start next week against the Weagles, although that could go either way as well
- Not so Fev-centric any more
- Developing more forward options

Cons
- We lost
- We were absolutely hammered in the stoppages by almost 5:1!!
- We took the foot off the gas at all
- Injuries suffered from which it will be difficult to recover
- TBird and Hammer out for indeterminate periods
- Jamo's clangers in defence: there were three that cost us goals
- Kicks on goal: 18 scoring shots, only 7 between the big ones
- Not so Fev-centric any more .. he only shot 1.2 .. he needs to continue kicking the big bags but that won't happen if we keep developing the forward options
- The new forward options not accurate enough

Pros
Brownes debut..neat player who has a go
Kruezer...keeping composure after a bad error that cost us a go..

Cons
Simple disposal errors costly, ie.Gibbs again having trouble kicking in.
Over using the ball gaining no ground and turning it over...FFS just kick long rather than go backwards and lose ground.
Hartlett again falling to injury and his future clouded.
No Fev..No goals. No chance of winning.
Judd....well held...
Thornton injured upset our defense.

Overall everything that could go wrong went wrong....forget about this game and move on....

Pros:

Backline stood up for the most part despite losing T-Bird very early.
Browne's debut pretty good.
In patches, particularly early - we actually looked like a cohesive team.

Cons:

Shaun Grigg's inability to shepherd ..not just today - all year.
Delivery into forward line abysmal...Fev not to blame for that.
Hartlett's hammy - that's about it...I reckon it's all over for him. You can only get so many hamstring injuries in your career.
