I was thinking who would be a bit worried at this stage on hearing that dreaded word, cut. I know some of the guys we really liked to make it,but we know their time is running out. Every club cut between 5-10 players a season. I think this year it won't be too much, possibly 5-6 as some players are on their 2nd or 3rd year.

I believe good clubs usually give their Under 19 recruits 2 years first and possibly 2 more when they 18 before they decide on them unless they are too much trouble.

So these guys really need to do something to avoid it

Jason Saddington looks gone if isn't in 22
Cain Ackland Depends if we need him.
Luke Blackwell Really has to cement himself, other midfield now.
Simon Wiggins Could Be gone, but someone might give him a shot

Then i say 2 of these guys at this stage.

Ryan Jackson I like him,but i don't think he will keep a spot
Dennis Armfield Muture age might have 1 year on contract?safe if 2.
Adam Hartlett I think he might turn it around after that hit,who knows
Adam Bentick Could it be possible,Hadley and others taken his spot?
Asaike Ohailipin Be shocked if he was gone.
Jordan Russell Surely traded to A Victorian who plays in SA,hopefully a good one is uncontracted if Russell want's to go home.

Looks pretty safe at the moment and i reckon secured.

Cameron Cloke
Jordan Bannister

Surely more time 2-3 years is too short at least a year, they all under 21.

Jake Edwards
Joe Anderson
Clinton Benjamin

The list is getting smaller, because previous years their would be like 16 players with a chance getting it.

I think he's done well, but...

...I'll just sit by and patiently wait. :P

Those who need to lift (are on the choppin' block so to speak) in my opinion, are:

Saddo
Blackwell
Jackson

Wiggo and Banno perhaps, but who knows?!

I'd like to hope that all the players you mention get a chance to keep their spot before the end of the season.

I agree guys like Jackson and Blackwell probably know they really need to find something so they keep a spot. I guess it depends on the draft,if more midfield get picked or there enough on the list and too little defenders/forwards.

I really think Bannister might make it now,4 in a row and he played some good ones last year.He seem to have found his 2004 form or was it 2005.

If a high light bulb goes in the clubrooms, Kreuzer can do it now.

What's all this about jackson?

I suppose if he hasn't got a game by the end of the year, he's a possibility...but on recent history, ... , ... , ?

100%

Ackland
Blackwell
Wiggins

50% chance (but there's a long way to go)

Saddington

Russell
Jackson
Benjamin
Edwards

Then there's the Trade period when we snag another hot footballer from Brisbane.

IMO Saddo should go, but can see him considered as insurance. He still a good footballer. Other 50%ers haven't proven much, and need to.

Houlihan Ackland Saddington taking up too much cap space with consideration to their output ... GAWN IMHO.
I reckon if Swann has his way Fev GAWN also to allow money for another big trade.

Others continuing to display poor skills & intensity nearing the end of '08 will be on the chopping block also.

When or why would be ever play Ackland again????? With Kreuzer and Hampson coming through, and Cloke in career best form we have the ruck covered.. Not to mention Setanta and Jacobs. Hell I'd rather any of these 5 over ackland. why don't they just sack this gimp now. Give him back to St Kilda we're on the way up not down.

Gone..

Ackland - just not needed anymore even if we can keep our injuries in check!

Probables:

pretty much anyone who wasn't in Sunday's lineup who hasn't got an injury but also Setanta <sniff> - I love him to death (we have private history, me and Santie!) but he's got to step up although thinking about it, he did OK Sunday really.

Possibles:

Russell, Houlihan and Banno - awesome trade bait given the lineup we've got now. Bannister is like Murphy when he first got traded - it'll just be a matter of "well, we gotta trade someone half decent!"

geeze that was good on Sunday

we really needed this year for bannister or wiggins to kick on and looks like bannister has to some extent. it's important to have at least 1 or 2 hard nuts in the side for the tagging rolls and thats banister, not everyone HAS to have great skills. bano will get kicks but will also make his opponent work hard . i said it last season but when we beat the dogs and port it was wiggins and bannister who were as important as anyone .

It's not that,i think it's because of his age already. I just think he should get a spot soon or the club will look at that i feel like Ross Young.

Saddington, Russell, Wiggins, Blackwell, Ackland all should go. They will not improve and have proved they are not going to make it full time. Austin, Benjamin, Jackson, Edwards all must be on thin ice.
