Can't disagree with that - apart from maybe those bits about Leon Davis being like Judd ![]() A great article - apart from the mention of Christ and Davis in the same sentence (let alone the same context). Sunday really did feel as if the giant has woken its slumber - and the Filth & other supporters are all sh%tting themselves |

What fantastic descrptions Flanagan pens once again. That roar, that song, that wagger....that club: IT'S OUR CLUB ...and didn't we look good in the Dark Navy Blue jumper too! Gee it brings back great memories. No doubt now is the future and the renaissance. Positive articles like this about the club confirms we're on the right track. Thanks again Mr Pratt. Go Bluebaggers. |

I used to love reading Peter Roebuck's articles, but became tired of the metaphors. Flanagans been a good read since I discovered him a few years back. Fantastic "two-eyed" journalist. |

![]() ![]() ![]() In all honesty Peter's a fantastic commentator, but from loving his journalism initially I became bored with much of the same. You'd understand exactly what I meant if you read countless articles... |

timetodeliver2004 wrote: Leon Davis being like Judd The only thing they have in common is the ground they played on!![]() Martin Flanagan wrote: I would beg those involved with the 17th and 18th AFL licences to listen to the older club songs before inventing their own. Would have to agree with him, there, but by the same token, ours is more like a dance-hall tune than a triumphal call to arms .. not that there's anything wrong with that! I still have it as my ring-tone and on my mp3 player, turning it up whenever it comes on (especially for my swines-supporting colleagues) .. it certainly beats those other "older club songs" which are as awful as the recent additions!!
Some recent additions to the AFL club song book are awful. A great read indeed - it hurts so much not to be able to experience it for myself, but the guernsey came out on Monday and I look forward so much to being able to wear it more often! Go the baggers!!! |

As usual, another fantastic and balanced (note that, Fatprick and Caro!) article from Martin, whom I've had the pleasure of exchanging emails to commend him on his other writings. He really knows his subject and does it without hyperbole or fanfare- just on cricket writings (ref: Peter Roebuck), Gideon Haigh is, I reckon, the best of 'em.... |
