I know its flogging a dead horse, but how good would it be to watch carlton games under lights at princes park? The atmosphere would be electric! |

Yep - just what we need. ![]() Can you imagine Collingwood or Essendon* deciding to return to a ground that fits 30,000 people? The financial returns of Princes Park vs MCG vs Telstradome can be argued endlessly but the benefits of playing in front of the largest crowd possible week in week out in terms of exposure to fans (think merchandise, think brand) are vastly underestimated. We're one of the BIG clubs. BIG clubs don't play on small suburban grounds unless they want to be small clubs. The only home ground advantage I want is the one that's relevant on the last Saturday in September. |

I don't think vangipuss is serious GWS, just retrospective. |

My plan is for Dick Pratt and the Grollo brothers to rebuild PP in the image of the MCG but only holding 70,000. They won't damage the surface in the process and will put wooden boards at the Heatley Stand end so we can come home there in the last quarter with people banging their feet on the floor. Then we'll get the AFL to reorganize the U19s and play three games there every Saturday starting at about 0930. Pies will cost 90 cents. (I was going to say one and threepence but that is unrealistic) We will hire a bloke to sell peanuts from a hessian bag. We will have a home ground advantage that can't be beaten. |

Fast forward 30 years. The AFL has taken ownership of Telstra Dome. All Melbourne matches are there or MCG still for the 8 Melbourne teams. The AFL look at the numbers and realise they can get $5bil for flogging the land to a developer for high rise apartments in the Dockland precinct. The ground has outlived its usefulness. Now they are looking for a 2nd melbourne venue, central location, playing surface that can't be questioned., stands in place. Never say never |

Very romantic. Princes Park is very difficult to get to and from if you live south of the city. Residents will up in arms if footy returns to Carlton. Until they build the Footscray-Caulfield underground rail link with a stop at Melb Uni. (which will never happen) any thoughts of redevelopment of P.P. is pie-in-the-sky stuff. Carlton should have moved it's home games to the M.C.G. 10 years ago. |

Tram or Train to the City....tram in Elizabeth St stops at the ground. |

I think resurrecting PP should be seriously looked at as a priority, and heavily pushed by Pratt and Co - if not but for one very important and crucial reason... ...I live about 5 minutes away. MAKE IT HAPPEN! ![]() |
