Can we afford to trade him? It's a pretty good effort for someone who still has a few years left in him. When you look at it this way, it's madness to trade him, surely? |

I think the decision should be left until the end of the season... depending on not just how he plays this season, but also his influence on the younger players. If he stays off the piss, isn't a wanka on the field and keeps doing what he does best, then it would be lunacy to trade him, but if he plays well but is the petulant wanka that he can be and it has a negative effect on the younger players then it would be luancy not to trade him. All being said I love Fevola, only bright light in this dark dark period of our history, if it was the 80's he would be captain and kicked a 1000 goals! |

I think you will find that Tony Lockett was probably St. Kilda's highest goalscorer in history when they traded him to Sydney. A trade Fevola thread is going to make very interesting reading between now and AFL Trade Week 2008. Might spawn a few "Pro-Trade" "Anti-Trade" movements.

I don't think his ranking or otherwise on our all time list is relevant to the trade decision. If anything to me Carlton would be more precious about our great defenders because they're the players we are famous for an really really need right now. Also, we're probably more famous for our new Full Forwards who show promise and then disappear .... like James Cook Brendan Parker Warren Ralph Damian Lang (that one's for the Tyrant) |

If it';s the Fev who played last week, I wouldn't trade for anyone (other than J brown). If it's the Fev who played for most of last year then thanx for the memories. Fev, like all superstars has a sense of gravity. When he is on fire and playing good disciplined football then the whole team is lifted, then same goes for when Fev goes the other way, it deflates and demoralises the team. In essense he will win the game for the team or lose it for the team. As much as I like positive side, I don't like our reliance on him or the fact that he is so dominante in our forward line. I feel our forward line looked the best when we played Port and Doggies last year where Fev wasn't the go to man. We need that policy in every game so that defenders have to make a choice - double or triple team Fev and let our other forward free or go man on man and hope the guy minding Fev can do his job. What baffles me is that Fev is being double and triple teamed each week, yet the guys still can't seem to find a forward on their own... |

If you trade last weeks Fev you get a good pick or player, if it's Fev rounds 1 & 2 you get a box of saladas. You need to have the balls to do the right thing for the club. He's on his last chance at this club - do we think he can go 5-6 years without @#$%&! up? Not likely. If he wins the Coleman this year he will be as valuable as he's likely to be for the remainder of his career. Cut our losses and go for it. |

The only reason you would trade him is because of his age relative to our premiership window and it all depends on what you get. I would do it for a a top 5 pick plus another pick between 5-10. Otherwise its pretty much a no deal. Really, his behaviour has only minimally effected his performance. He has averaged over 3 goals a game for over 5 seasons in one of the worst sides in league history. |

It's a good point. Ratten has a 2-year deal, and knows he needs to get results to keep his job. If he thinks that keeping Fevola will help him do that, then Fevola will stay. |
